Simply Living Vol 3 Number 3 (1987)
Maurice Tabard. Self-Portrait.
The room is empty. But someone’s watching me.
No one is in here. But eyes are everywhere, aren’t they?
I could be a paranoid but I feel that someone in here doubts that. And I trust him.
Feeling crabby: Scientists in the Phoenix Islands are cataloguing tiny crabs found in the crevices of über-remote coral reefs. They’ve barely scratched the surface.
Meet some of these handsome reef denizens.
I Just Can’t – Steven Klein X NARS Holiday Collection “Fantascene”
Nardini Research Centre by Italian architect Massimiliano Fuksas (2002-2004)
“Two worlds”, composed of two transparent ellipsoidal bubbles holding the research centre laboratories. The reflective surface of the water at ground level creates a reverberating and shimmering space in the entrance area set between the two bubbles, which appears to float “suspended” in the air. The underwater skylights let the light filter and spread through the underground space during the day; during the night, they become a luminous source. The thin columns, with different inclinations, create a dynamic tension together with the oblique lift structure.”
1990 by Elicia Donze. Drawn in PS. Please do not remove caption.
[Caption: A realistic digital painting of Joan Chen as Josie from Twin Peaks. Portrait is from the waist up. Josie is seated on a dusty pink velvet sofa. She’s wearing a green, blue, and black oversized sweater and bright red lipstick. Her black hair is short and slicked back in a delicate wave. She’s clutching a red book to her chest. One of her hands is repeated three times, the disembodied extra hands stacked surreally as if in mid-air. The background is a gradient from pale lavender to vivid blue.]
