20 Day IkeSen Challenge Questions Epilogue
21. When was the first moment when you thought, HE is THE warlord for me?
I finished the challenge yesterday, and I wanted to add this question.
THIS moment (and chapter, really), for me, was when I thought, I could get behind his ambition. Otome or manga/anime in general donāt have truly ambitious guys. Sure, we see a lot of guys with simple goals and MASSIVE work ethic (FMA, One Piece, you name it), but not ambitious.
This is from his recent birthday event, and when I read this, I felt like crying. Because to be great is to be misunderstood. Especially in a mono-cultural society like Japan, where the herd (conformity) mentality is so strong, the environment doesnāt exactly encourage ambition and calculated risk-taking. Yet, Nobunaga had such a clear vision about creating a better future for Japan, earning the title of the FIRST of three unifiers of Japan. To be the first at anything is scary, because no one is an expert and you face SO MUCH criticism (Bill Gates, Jack Ma, the list really does go on).
Nobunagaās methods may be unpopular, but he paved the foundation to create a strong country and left a legacy millions of people continue to benefit from even til today, 500 years after he died. How many people can claim to have done that?
I love Nobunaga and I love Cybird for exposing me to him, pushing me to research about him thoroughly. I can rant at length about his greatness that the game doesnāt even cover (while not ignoring his āatrocitiesā). Thereās a reason why Japan still talks about him (plus INNUMERABLE game and drama adaptations) to this day.
