Pixi Beauty
Ok, so i finally tried out the two pixi products i purchased from hautelook and can give you a thorough review now! So i bought a foundation stick ($9) and a tinted balm ($6 i believe).
The first one I will talk about is the foundation stick. From what i read, people either loved it or hated it. Personally, i liked it, but i didn't love it. For $9/drugstore price, i think it's good for its price. It states that it's a 3 in 1: concealer, foundation and powder stick, medium to full coverage, matte finish. So let's see if it does its job. This is how it looks like
As you can see I'm in the color cream. There are only 3 color choices to choose from but fortunately for me this slightly yellow undertone matched me quite well. At the regular price $26, it doesn't come with much product, but i think it's reasonable at $9.
I swatched it on my wrist directly from the stick and as you can see it blends in seamlessly and covered up my veins quite well with just one layer. I love how easily you can blend the foundation, it's not thick and it's not greasy at all. It gives a powdered/matte finish. Now, on my skin, i found that without powdering a little more, it doesn't last all day, for me it only lasted 3-4 hours. With powder, it was about 5 hours. Still, i think this is good for those who have clearer skin. I agree that it is a medium coverage, but the lasting power just doesn't cut it if you have oily skin. I love that it's easy to apply and the packaging makes it easy to just put it in your purse for touch ups. For $9, i would buy it again, but because i found this online, and the reg price is $26 at target, i won't be finding myself reaching for this product everyday. 2.5 stars out of 5.
Next is the Pixi glow Magic Tint Tint in Happy Thoughts Pink. Regular price is $16, and this is the only color in the tinkerbell pixi line. It looks like this.
I love the packaging, it's just so cute. The "magic" in the balm is that it brings out a unique pink hue of your natural lip color. It's free of parabens, triclosan, sulfates, and pthalates. It's a twist up, so no need for a pencil sharpener, another plus in my book.
This is how much product it comes with. I think it's a pretty reasonable amount, it's about the same amount as the revlon tinted balms.
This is the swatch, it's not a really pigmented pink, but it's suppose to bring out the natural pink in your lips. I find that after the product sets, my lips do look pinker, and in fact...prettier, haha. I actually really like this product, its a great idea, but for $16 compared to the baby lips $3-4 or the revlon tinted balms $7-8, i would rather reach for those. The other two brands come in many colors and although i like the packaging and the idea behind it, it's not a must have in my book. 3 stars out of 5

Hello Beauty Bloggers!
The Beauty Blog Directory is something that I created a year or so ago, which lists lots of Tumblr beauty blogs all in one place so they are easy for people to find! This is a great way to get exposure for your blog, as well as to find wonderful new blogs to enjoy.
The Directory is NOT some silly promotion - there are no “favorites”, contests, or any other mumbo-jumbo bullsh*t. This is simply a method through which the beauty blog community will be able to support one another and gain success through each other! All blogs are listed fairly and the Directory is designed to help visitors easily find the type of blog they are looking for.
::: THE BEAUTY BLOG DIRECTORY WILL ONLY FEATURE BLOGS THAT EXCLUSIVELY POST MAKEUP, HAIR, SKIN, or NAILS :::
If you are a beauty blog who would like to join the Directory, all you have to do is reblog this and write your blog’s URL at the bottom of the post. This will help me easily access, assess, and add your blog to the Directory.
Please note that the old Beauty Blog Directory has been taken down, due to so many new blogs being created and old blogs deleted. We’re starting fresh! SO IF YOU WERE A PART OF THE OLD DIRECTORY, YOU WILL HAVE TO ADD YOURSELF AGAIN
The Directory will be updated at the beginning of February!
In case anyone missed it! There’s no deadline or anything, but don’t forget! I’ll be adding blogs to the page whenever I get the time.
Thanks for the follow (: New reviews coming up soon, promise! In the mean time, if you have any questions feel free to ask.
Benefit High Beam Review and Dupe
So I was googling for drugstore highlights because i just LOVED how the benefit high beam made my face look so dewy and awake, but it was just a tad too expensive at $26 at sephora. I love the product but...that will make a dent on my wallet.
Now, for the review part first, I give this produt 4 out of 5 stars. It is such a widely known product because of the dewy glow and radiance it gives to the skin. You can apply this as a highlight after foundation, or you can mix it with your foundation for an all over glow. I like to just apply this on the top of the cheek bones, on top of the blush to highlight where the sun hits the high points. What i also like about this is that it's a light pink color which makes it a more universal color because it fits more skin tones. Benefit also have another highlighter called Moon Beam but it's a gold tone color. I think that's a better fit for darker skin tones because the gold tone really compliments darker colors and highlights better. Now I only gave it 4 stars because $26 is really too much.
Now, for dupes. First I found the Elf facial whip in Lilac to be the closest color to the high beam.
This only cost $1. For the price, it's not bad at all. The color Lilac is really close to high beam, it's a pinky color with a slight purple tone underneath. It's creamy, and you only need very little to highlight. I think this is great drugstore highlight and the number one dupe for high beam.
Next is the No7 brand's Skin Illuminator. If you follow Lisa Eldridge the UK makeup artist on YouTube, you would know she helped develop this product for No7. I like this product because it comes with a brush and it's a great cream highlighter. The color is more of a peachy color with a pink undertone. I've found this at target before for about $10 but I haven't seen it lately. For the price, this product will last you a long time.
The last one I want to talk about is the Revlon age defying face illuminator. I found it for $10.99 at walgreens before and I bought a backup when it went on sale for $5.99. This product is discontinued but you can still buy it online at drugstoredotcom. It comes in 3 colors, a light bronzy, golden color, a more tan shimmering color and this pink color. I think it's an ok dupe, but I found it to be a little too watery and the brush is quite stiff. But the color payoff is great, and for $10 it's a great product.
Just bought pixi products, can't wait to get them in the mail!
Revlon Colorstay Whipped Creme Makeup
Since I reviewed a revlon product first, i will continue in that tradition for now. I've brought the "new" revlon foundation quite some time ago, and after using it for a couple months, i have come to my conclusion for this product.
Now, as it states, it's a cream makeup. So it's really creamy but it's also really thick. I opened the container, turned it upside down and the product will not run. Some people might like this, but in my past experience, thick makeup means it's heavy on the face. Surprisingly, it's not as heavy as i thought it was. After it has set it feels nice. I can't say it's like a second skin, but it is light weight for a cream foundation. For me, i find it best to apply it with my fingers. With a brush, it takes longer to blend out the streaks and it's not as full coverage as it's meant to be.
I'm in the color 150 Buff. It looks a lot darker in the container than it actually is when you apply it to the face, so beware and choose your colors wisely.
It's suppose to be a long lasting 24 hours foundation, but i find that after about 5 hours, oils start to seep through the makeup, it's not as full coverage as when you first applied it. BUT, if you set it with a powder, i find that it lasts 8 hours.
For me, this isn't an everyday foundation. It takes a lot of work to perfect to have it last all day and it's quite a full coverage. Some might like the flawless face everyday but to me, i like to give the skin a break now and than. The colorstay liquid foundation is a better choice for everyday because it's long lasting without having to set it, and it's very light weight. But if you're going out and want the perfect look to last all night, this is a good and affordable choice. Be careful when taking pictures though, if you set it with a white translucent powder, you can get that white cast.
4 stars!
Revlon Illuminance Creme eyeshadow-In wild orchids.
This quad palette colors are beautiful, radiant and are perfect for summer looks. For me, personally, they crease very easily when used alone. The trick is to use a base or primer or both before applying to help it last longer. For me, the product doesn't smear when i use the darkest color as an outer V or crease color, but it still doesn't last as long without primer. Overall, for a drugstore product, this creme palette is good for its price.
