Event: Sanctuary’s Night of Terror
The docks and spaceport of Sanctuary City is normally bustling with business and activity. Tonight? Tonight it stands silent and abandoned as the rest of the city parties at the annual Halloween Festival. Eerie and still, it complements Halloween quite well until a single figure makes its way across dock #8. Similar in appearance to an alien slug, the trader checks the time over and over again as he waits. Nothing. The customer is already an hour late, he can’t risk staying there for any longer. Twisting around his bulk, the alien turns only to freeze as he slides straight into the business end of a Prysmosian staff.
“Hello there Sazo,” Officer Jovaan lowers the ornate weapon, “We hear you’ve been sticking your tendrils in places they don’t belong again.”
Chief Strongarm steps out from behind a stack of crates and leans down to secure a pair of kinetic cuffs to the slug like alien’s spindly arms. She informs him, “You are under arrest for the illegal transport of a class seven organism. Once we have the creature secured, you will be transported back to the mainland for processing.”
“You can’t prove a thing.” Sazo’s skin ripples with confident reds and oranges.
“Oh we can in a second.” Jovaan speaks into his communicator, “Coleman, whatcha find?”
“What?” Jovaan turns and demands, “What do you mean nothing?”
“Wait-“ If an alien slug could go pale, he would be ghost white. “There… there wasn’t anything in there?”
On the other side of the docks, Officer Coleman pushes her helmet back on the shaggy mess of blonde hair beneath. “I’m telling you,” She does one last sweep of the cargo crate, “There ain’t anything here.”
She steps out as Officer Lee Walsh kneels to look for any sign of escape, “Either we have the wrong crate or he hid it somewhere else! Only way we will-“ Coleman turns just in time to see as the air above Lee ripples and melts away. Slick black scales and claws the size of scythes manifest from nothing. Its wide head and wicked jaws flick. Long black tendrils whip around the ceiling of the crate.
Officer Walsh looks up just as the creature pounces, its jaws snapping around the unsuspecting human’s head.
Coleman shrieks. She fires her weapon.
All it took was the scream over the comms to send Jovaan and the rest of his squad sprinting through the docks. They follow the soon apparent sound of blaster fire.
They spin around the corner just as thick black tendrils drag an unconscious and bloodied officer Coleman across the floor, smearing red across the concrete amidst the grisly remains of the rest of the unit.
“MANDALA!” Jovaan yells as he picks up speed. Whatever has a hold of the woman pauses, tentacles twitching in an aborted release. Like hell is Jovaan letting it take her!
Raising an arm, golden energy pools in the Prysmosian’s palm. It spins, shifting and solidifying until its dense enough to touch. Jovaan reels his arm back and hurls the ball of magic, the construct shifting and stretching wide as it slices through the air.
The beast lets go before the strike can hit, ducking back into the safety of crates and darkness. The clack clack clack of clawed feet fades in seconds as the monster races off into the night.
Lenny pushes past him to grab their coworker as Chief Strongarm goes to the crate.
Seconds later the cybertronian lurches backwards with the barely contained hack of a full tank purge. One glance into the container and its too much visera for even Jovaan to take. He almost loses his dinner too.
“Spirits above…” Jovaan kneels, grasping his head between his legs, “What the hell are we gonna tell Lee’s wife?”
Their resident Dire Wraith walks up, holding Officer Coleman’s limp body. He glances inside then out to the city. Lenny asks, “What are we going to tell the city?”
His two superiors’ eyes widen in dual realization.
There’s a monster loose in Sanctuary.
OOC: What can be gathered from this for the monster
The monster is able to camouflage itself, it will use its tentacles to grab and manipulate things, its very fast and agile, Its resistant to blaster fire (so half of cybertronian weaponry won’t be very effective), and it’s smart enough to hide until it has the chance to escape.
