the thing about marjorine that you guys never understood even after the whole idea went viral is that yes butters is a girl. but she is butch.

Totally. Never mind the stereotypes you end up feeding into (both in regards to women and to trans women in particular), to try and fit Butters/Marjorine neatly into a box as far as gender expression goes is to completely miss the point of the character. Butters is supposed to be bit off the beaten path, a little different from the others, he IS one of the Melvins for a reason, after all. That's where much of the character's charm and appeal comes from, and also where much of the humor comes from.

If Butters is often perceived as too soft or feminine for the boys, then Marjorine would likewise be seen as too rough or masculine for the girls. Giving that Butters has often shown a need for approval and to fit in, this would be doubly true for Marjorine. You can have people expecting her to be hyper feminine, which is a pressure most girls feel rather they're cis or trans, only for her to feel just as unhappy as she did before coming out.

Sure, you can have Marj like cute things like Sanrio, but have her still playing metal guitar with Crimson Dawn, have her into a sport like roller skating, have her still wanting to watch more "guy" movies. Let her have either a weird taste in fashion or more basic-bitch taste (aside from work or special occasions, which also applies to Butters) rather than the trendiest outfits. You can have her hang out with some of the girls, but also let her still hang out with the boys.

(Also, can we stop leaving Dougie out of Marjorine fics? He's already neglected enough in regular Butters fics, but it really bothers me how he's basically nonexistent in Marjorine fics. Come on, Dougie wouldn't hesitate to accept her)

Otherwise, if you want a sweet and innocent blonde girl who doesn't actually act or feel like Butters, I mean, Annie Knitts is literally right there. Right. There.
