I'm in the final month of my honors thesis and after recieving glowing reviews of my presentation I'm in with a shot for a first class honors!! I got my last shiny Buneary!!!

I'm moving on to hunt Turtwig on two games and to hunt for a shiny fossilmon on my main platinum cart!!

The prof. Oak's challenge in Heart Gold is still on the go btw! I've beaten the elite 4 and am taking a break to finish my thesis before getting back into it properly in june!

Professor Oak's Challenge Update!

Hooookay, big update post time!

I mentioned in a previous post that I've been chipping away at a Prof. Oak's Challenge in Heart Gold!

As of the time of writing I'm just starting part 4 according to Mewlax's guide on the run. This post is only about the first part, i.e before Falkner! I'll post about the next parts when I'm done with part 4, something I expect to happen soon.

Now, let's begin.

Fig 1. Like new journeys often do, mine began with the annihilation of my past self.

I deleted my old save and named myself Prof. H! I took Totodile as my starter as it's a Johto fave of mine and I set off into the Johto region to catch 'em all!

I Made my way to Mr. Pokemon's house for the egg that begins the game's plot and along the way I bumped into my rival, a red-haired boy named Thesis, as I'm writing my honour's thesis while I play and I expect I'll still be chipping away at this file by the time I'm done with my thesis.

My experience with Part 1, pre-Falkner was interesting. trainer battles are incredibly poor for experience yield and as per Mewlax's recommendation I completely abstained from taking any numbers for potential rematches. So I found myself alternating between the pokemon on Route 32, with Bellsprout being the best, and the Gastly at Sprout tower at night!

I spent my morning and afternoon commutes to and from work, which currently has its facilities about an hour away from my home so I got plenty of time to play each day.

I took the optional Slugma which added another big level grind to this part of the challenge but by the time I got into the rhthym of swinging back and forth between grinding spots it went pretty quickly!

The time soon came for me to battle Falkner sneakily at work instead of doing my job! Here's how it went!

And that was all she wrote for the bird boy! At just under 60 hours I completed part one!

I got a Pokewalker!!

I found it on Facebook Marketplace for half the ebay price! I've never had one before but after a thorough clean and a fresh battery my Ariados is gonna be walking through the Noisy Forest while I carry on with my Professor Oak's Challenge in Heart Gold!

I'll still be working through the challange as if I didnt have a pokewalker because that's how I started out but it'll be cool to pick up some long time challenge mons!

I'm briefly ignoring my thesis to set up my janky old R4 card with a Pearl save so my next walk througu Eterna Forest can be across 5 games for 10 encounters per tick (roughly 20 per minute)

I chose Pearl for a shot at shiny Misdreavus and it feels balanced with 1 diamond and 3 platinums running alongside it. This pleases the lil autism creature in me greatly.

Halloween update!! Wurmple and Professor Oak!

Okay first things first!! Sorry for so few posts! I've been deep in fieldwork for my honors degree, wandering the hills and valleys of Australia for new species of invertebrates! Second things second! I started a Professor Oak's Challenge in Heart Gold after getting a Ho-Oh and Lugia for my Gen 5 living dex (My originals went missing somewhere? I genuinely have no idea where I put them?) I started with Totodile, named Irwin after Steve, and I've been playing it a lot on my commute to and from work! I'm having a shocking amount of fun grinding away at it and I'm looking forward to a super thorough Johto play through c:

The morning of writing this I had a little time to unwind so I decided to bust out the Autism Piano again and work on my Platinum shiny hunts in Eterna Forest! After less than an hour (and 5753 encounters) I was blessed by Ourple the rash-natured shiny Wurmple!!

And that's everything I've been up to lately! I hope to write a little more soon when I'm up to fighting Falkner!

This research felt super quick! I still have my Jirachi research to finish (yes I'm stuck on Kecleon!!)

I havent posted in a looong time because I've been working hard and doing loads of fieldwork but thankfully it'll be over in a few weeks and I can settle into writing my thesis with one hand and playing pokemon with the other!

I got my target in Eterna forest a few days ago!! (I didn't post it at the time bc I've been played The Thousand Year Door and kissing my girl)

Meet Raspberry!!

She has a relaxed nature and she'll be accompanying me for the next few phases in Eterna for a second budew and a second buneary so that when I'm done she'll hopefully have max friendship and I can get a shiny Lopunny with return!!
