PLOT:

       I... kind of really want to write in this A.U. But I’m down doing normal things too. Dimileth doesn’t have to be end-game to that either. Could have been just ‘they’ are best friends (she would have still married another), he found peace with himself and then got thrown back in the past. 

    I’m just... wow.

    I can’t believe this prompt never came to me prior to this amazing comic.

Hello everyone, sorry for this sudden request, but I am in dire need of funds ! ! ! A big emergency expense suddenly happened and I find myself really short on cash. Hmm how to answer her question really? Should he outright tell her that he stumbled upon her father’s diary? No, at least not yet but it would be the only explanation as to why he knows so much. “I’ve just…noticed how you’ve been acting as of late, I don’t think I’ve ever seen you smile which is a shame because I’m sure your smile has a brilliance that would put the sun itself to shame.” Bluffing his way out with a flirt was one thing, but the general concern over her not smiling or expressing too much emotion..that was genuine of ‘Maurice’.​

            Byleth's blue eyes dulled over and her lips became a thin line. She studied his face. That wasn't exactly what she expected to hear from him in response. His words were so extravagant that she did not take him seriously. She ignored his flattery. “Do you want me to smile?” she asked with a small shrug, “I can if you want me to.” If he found it a shame that she didn't smile, she could lift the corners of her mouth for him. She didn’t want to worry a student over such a small detail.

       The professor looked up from the exams she had been grading. A blank look crossed her face as her brows knit in question. “What brought this topic up?” she asked with a slight tilt of her head, slowly putting her pen down on the desk. She gave him her undivided attention.

“Oh, okay?” He said as he tried to lean as best as he could onto his professor’s smaller frame, worried that he could possibly crush her, “I would still do it again, regardless.”

          Byleth pulled his left arm over her shoulder and put her arm around his waist, leaning towards him. She could feel the press of his weight as he slouched, but noticed that he was being careful. Head tilting to the side, she stared up at his face and tightened her arm around him. 

            “Lean your weight on me,” she repeated, almost sternly.

“ you’re quite adorable, you know that? ” camilla rests her hands on the professor’s shoulders, easily towering over the blue haired woman at 6′2. “ i mean- not as adorable as my darling retainers, but do you have a certain charm about you. ”

       "If you think so.” Byleth made no effort to remove her hands from her shoulders. She sensed no hostility from . . . 

        — ?

        The professor stared at her blankly for a second. Byleth knew that she was an ally, but it was the first time they had spoken. They have never been properly introduced. “What is your name?” she asked.

NO, no, no…this wasn’t what she wanted to talk about. perhaps she could change the subject, yes, maybe that’d work. “a-ah, w-well, i wouldn’t be living fully alone! i’d have many animals with me…and now that we’re speaking of animals, which is your favorite kind? i’m curious to know.”

     “I don’t have a favorite.”

     Rather than trying to change the subject, Byleth would have preferred Marianne to have said she didn't want to talk about it. Guess she isn’t ready to open up. She wondered if she had been too hasty. . . It was clear to her now that it would take a while longer for their bond to deepen. That came as a bit of a surprise. Byleth placed her tea cup down, “What about yours?” she asked. “What’s your favorite?”
