team satisfaction if they were an idol group
The Yugioh MC cast is so funny when you think about it because it's just:
- A highschooler who likes playing games and the millennia-old spirit of an Egyptian Pharaoh who also Really Likes Playing Games
- A traumatized (but he doesn't know it) highschooler turned eldritch monster and his non-binary demon partner/soulmate
- A guy who likes motorcycles
- A middle schooler and the amnesiac alien trapped in the necklace he got from his dead father
- A 14-year-old aspiring entertainer who makes the fact that he has Super DID the entire world's (worlds?) problem
- A traumatized (but he knows it) highschooler fueled by spite, revenge and a bit of homosexuality
- An 8-year-old kid
- A 10,000 year-old alien who is convinced the one thing that will end the intergalactic war that has been led for millennias is a card game format created by aforementioned-8-year-old-kid
Honorary mention to manga/season 0 Yugi and Yami who were really just Guy With The Worst Life Ever and the deranged ancient egyptian pharaoh's spirit who took one look at him and went yeah i'm gonna kill people for him (this is also DID in a way)
What if?
Jinu's salvation
The most dangerous moment for a writer is when you're looking for a fic with specific content but there is not enough of it on Ao3 or not quite the right thing and, as you are digging deeper and deeper into the archive, you can hear the devil whispering into your ear "Oh, if only someone interested in this specific thing could write it... Oh wait, is that a keyboard I see under your fingers?"
Yes.
A doodle regarding the Tumblr Fandom 2024 Year In Review...
Based on this:
A friend who's just as deep in Ace Attorney rabbit hole as me rn sent me this after our little shipping discussion
All I can say to that is:
swapping places
Anyway, super pissed off at all y’all who’ve been painting any casual, social relationship between minors and adults as “grooming” or “predatory,” as I try to point an 18-year-old on Twitter whose parents are attempting to force them into ABA therapy towards possible sources of help or support, and they say they have….zero safe adults in their life who are older than 18-20.
Folks. Unrelated, decent, older adults are a vital source of support and safety when someone’s family and school are unreliable or abusive.
There are different appropriate boundaries for friendships between kids and adults than between kids and other kids, but making kids believe that zero adults in their lives are safe to have as friends is not actually making them safer.
If this ain’t true... jeez.
Despite the assertions of certain scholars, there is little evidence of heteroeroticism in Archaic Greece. Meager references may perhaps be found in the Iliad. While the epic is famous for the relationship between Achilles and Patroclus and its role in turning the tide of the Trojan War, Helen and Paris, commonly interpreted by modern readers as friends, may provide a parallel to these famous lovers. Instrumental to Helen’s escape to Troy with Paris was Aphrodite, whose erotic connotations are well known from Sappho’s poetry. It could be argued, however shocking it may be to our modern sensibilities, that Paris and Helen’s love was of a similar nature. Nevertheless, other possible mentions of “straight” people (I use quotation marks as such an identity did not exist in Ancient Greece) remain debatable. There is no evidence that Hector and Andromache’s love was anything but platonic; the intimacy of their exchange in Book 6 should not be taken as heteroerotic, as declarations of strong affection between friends were common in ancient times. Neither is their marriage proof of institutionalised different-sex unions based on attraction. It is well known that most marriages were concluded for practical reasons, and romantic feelings rarely, if ever, entered the picture. As such, the question of whether “straight” people existed in Archaic Greece cannot be conclusively answered.
Welcome to volume edition number #18 of Adventures in Wrangling! We’re live again this week because, get this: I’m … procrastinating again. I know. Shocking.
All included tags are tags whose existence I confirmed when collecting them, but the works they’re on may have been deleted since then.
As always, many thanks to 1) the taggers, 2) the browsers, and 3) the wranglers for collecting and sharing these. I (unironically) love all of them, and hope y’all will too.
Try to read the fandoms these are on – you won’t be disappointed. This week we have some unexpected fourth wall breakage.
Here you can find the full-sized tags’ image file, and you can find the plain text version of the tags behind the cut:

Welcome to volume number #17 of Adventures in Wrangling! All hail and well-met! We’re here live and unqueued this volume because there’s something I’m industriously procrastinating on.

if you can't get on ao3 tonight it's because a minecraft streamer rpf fic just updated and all 41k of the authors twitter followers tried to read it at once and yes if reading this confused you it means you're officially old
you all honest to god have no idea but minecraft rpf IS the biggest fandom right now. most of these people and certainly the people this story is about had no or very little engagement before last year but suddenly millions of american children who 1) love minecraft, 2) are growing up on streaming, 3) have never heard of fandom before, had nothing to do for a full year but sit at home and watch these guys stream. dream, who is a 21 year old streamer who has never shown his face, gained 15 million subs this year. fans of this genre are avid, skew very young, and, as mentioned, have probably never read another fic. the author's twitter replies are full of young teens explaining to each other what ao3 is and how to make an account there just to read this fic. we have wild times ahead. anyway, if this post really confused you, that's what's going on.
Not to begrudge anyone their fun, but we work really hard on making sure our servers don't keel over even during stressful times, and it would be a pretty bad sign if a single fandom, let alone a single work, managed to bring the whole website to its knees. Luckily, it didn't!
(We even said so at the time, even though a screenshot of that tweet didn't make it into the post above.)
To give you a sense of how much traffic the AO3 servers can handle, we saw a total of 65.6 million page views on Sunday, January 3rd, which was a new record. That's an average of 2.73 million pages served every hour (more at peak times, less when a majority of users are asleep), or 45,555 pages per minute, or 759 pages per second. This level of fannish activity did not crash our volunteer-maintained servers, and we're actually kind of proud of that accomplishment!
The day of the downtime, we had a total of 62 million page views, which was still a bit more than we saw over the December holidays. And while a new chapter on a popular fic did not manage to kill the Archive for three hours, we are still working on optimizing things to prevent an unlucky repeat of that downtime in the future. Please help us out by not spreading admittedly funny rumors, if you'd be so kind!
