more of lottie the gyaru zombie killer (ft. her unsteady alliance with her travel buddy)
I know, logically, that Project Zomboid's loot is randomized.
And yet I enjoy imagining what the lives of the zombified people I intrude on were like before July 9th, 1993.
A self-help book on divorce sits on a kitchen counter next to a carton of wine, unopened. Within the house is only one zombie, a woman with some wealth, judging by her jewelry and the large house surrounded by a farm with good acreage. The home was made for two. A large double bed dominates the master suite upstairs, two end tables with two matching lamps bracketing it. Two dressers are pushed against the wall beneath a large window perfectly situated to allow in the warming morning light. This home was made for two that expected a third. Next to the master suite is a smaller room, decorated well, but too neat to have been lived in yet. It's a nursery. Clothes and toys still tucked away in a large wardrobe that held within it the promise of years and a life to come. It's a nursery for no child. Its walls not decorated with crude and loving crayon drawings, but almost stark bare and eerily empty. From the nursery's window, I can see the driveway and garage, big enough for a family-oriented sedan to fit comfortably. And yet, no car sits there. Where an expecting couple would surely have owned a vehicle three miles from town.
I can't stop thinking about the zombified woman who wanted more out of life, and I can't stop wondering where her estranged spouse may have ended up. Were they the crashed sedan down the road? Or are they implied to be alive, human, still?
I'll never know, and that kind of haunts me.
Random chance loot tables have broken my heart and brought a tear to my eye by telling me a story they were never, ever designed with the intention of telling me here and now.
I feel this so bad. Like the amount of stories told by the loot you'll find is legendary. I found a house with a bunch of boxes. Just boxes on boxes. Mostly empty. Maybe the family knew it was coming somehow. There was no car out front, no fridge, no oven. They must have already left and the boxes were just things they couldn't fit - which was why they were so sparsely packed.
I'll never know if they escaped it. I hope they did.
I finally found a photo editor on my phone that's not infested with AI, which means I'm finally able to release this from my head

lots of project zomboid lol... here's a little 20 min doodle i did
June 9th, 1993
It's raining outside. I’ve always loved the June rain. There's something about how clean it feels on your skin that makes me want to run outside and play with my kids as they stomp around willy-nilly.
Except, they’re still in Riverside with their father. And will be, until school starts up. I should be grateful that I get them as long as I do. And, admittedly, it's nice having the house to myself for a few months out of the year. The job is demanding enough that these moments, like the one I’m having right now, feel even more peaceful. The sun has barely risen, and it’s times like these when I think it’s at its most beautiful.
There's some sort of commotion outside. If there was a true emergency I would have gotten a call from the firehouse - still, I’d rather go out and check. It's the neighborly thing to do, and I'm never really off of the clock, am I?
me playing project zomboid on the easiest possible settings
Project Zomboid to add shitting yourself to death as a possible outcome, what happens if you eat the dead rat that is always in your cabinets for some reason.
we played so much Project Zomboid this past weekend since the B42 multiplayer update dropped that when my partner went to the hardware store this morning, they found themselves standing in the saw blade aisle thinking they needed a saw blade for something and couldn’t remember what, and then they realized they’d been telling themselves to keep an eye out for a saw blade in the game so they could make me a saw blade bat for a new weapon lmao
I haven't had a chance to really sink my teeth into b42 mp and I am beyond jealous!

I spent so long getting Collin's foraging skills up high enough to find eggs, because that's the only way to get them in B41 (which I'm still playing), and poor Collin has been surviving the apocalypse for nine months and deserves to be able to bake cakes! But then it was winter, and AFAIK you can't find them in winter. It's April now, but still cold, so I figured it'd still be a while. Just walked to the nearest forest to forage for whatever, and the first thing he found! Was eggs! He has eggs! I'm so happy for him 😭
This is fine
When you set on fire a horde of zombies to clean up a big store with good loot but one zombie decides to drift away and sets on fire that said store. And you need to seat because you're completely out of breath.
I love Project Zomboid.
