I love how some fics are called shit like "They Only Shoot The Birds Who Cannot Sing" and it's like the most insane porn you're ever read and then some fics are called Spit On Me and it's 18,000 words of the most achingly id-scratching prose you've ever read and they're both. They're both so fucking good. thank God for fanfiction.
pulled an all-nighter and then promptly passed out, i drew this sometime and have no recollection but i think i get what i was going for
as a subtitler im incredibly biased as i say this but. shoutout to forms of fan labor other than fanart and fanfiction. fanart and fanfiction are awesome, don't take this as a dig at those, but i have a big appreciation for fans who provide closed captioning/subtitles/translations of works out of love n passion; fans who recap and explain aspects of the original work; fucking SPEEDRUNNERS, holy shit, shoutout to speedrunners and challenge runners in video game communities. lots of things that fall outside the scope of what comes to mind when people think of fanart/fan labor are integral parts of a healthy fan ecosystem
i guess basically i just feel a whole lot of love for people who work to find out and share everything they can about the thing they love and make the thing they love more accessible. people who take the time to add captions/descriptive audio to an auditory/visual work, record an audio version of a written work, adapt a work into a different language, explain the historical cultural context in which a work exists, rip and publish the files of a work, and uncover and share details that are easy to miss. everyone who, in their way, is saying "i love this thing so much. i want to know everything about it, and i want everyone to be able to participate."
All fan works are amazing and valid fan works! Because they are work done out of love

💜 Wiki editors! The number of debates you settle... God tier
💜 Community Creators! Ever since live journal died, fandom has felt more and more fractured and disjointed because of the lack of a central community hub. Tumblr is great for posting more bulletin type posts, but the format is not great for peer to peer communication. Shout out to those that go "hey, there's not a big public and/or official discord for this fandom. I'm gonna make one!" whether they are Discord servers, subreddits, forums, or any other permutation of this
💜 Volunteer Community Mods! Connected to the previous one, but deserving of your own shout out! You get so much hate thrown your way sometimes but you're just a fan like the rest of us. Especially those for Official discords. I've seen communities explode into something huge and you all don't get fairly compensated for your time and effort.
💜 People Who Credit The Artists! Ever seen art that you love posted on a platform by someone you know wasn't the original artist and you did through the comments to find someone has actually credited the original creator? Bless that person.
💜 Rebloggers! You get things seen! Even if you don't go off in the tags, even if you don't have a lot of followers, you push creative works just that one step farther out from the creators field of influence.
💜 Commenters! Your encouragement might make the difference between an update or not. And while authors for sure will give them love, I think fandoms as a whole should also give them love because when they encourage an author and that next chapter gets published, we all benefit from it.
I'm sure there are tons more that this post and the above post have missed, but everyone listed here helps make fandoms a community.

You may have noticed that my updating to this blog has become more sparse of late. There are a lot of reasons for this, but part of it is that my life has been so unbelievably chaotic in the last year that I've hardly had time to breathe. And at this point my housing is affected.
My living situation is suddenly much more unstable than I had anticipated, so I'm trying to buy a trailer/camper to live in. I have somewher
