So many misconceptions around the notion of heroism. Far too many categorize a hero as a champion on the battlefield, commander of legions, a master of rare talent or ability. Granted, there have been heroes who fit those descriptions. But many men of great evil as well. Heed me. A hero sacrifices for the greater good. A hero is true to his or her conscience. In short, heroism means doing the right thing regardless of the consequences. Although any person could fit that description, very few do. Choose this day to be one of them.

At last! After four months of stress-induced voice loss, illness, laziness, and/or general apathy, I have a new reading up! I’m editing three more right now, so these kinds of posts should become more frequent.

I’ve wanted to read this scene for ages.  For one thing, Corinne’s voice is fun, not very vocally demanding, and she’s not one of those voices I have to puzzle over for months (e.g. Ferrin, Galloran, the entire Amar Kabal race). I also love the way this scene shows her friendship with Rachel. These two come from separate worlds, differ in age by several years, have personalities that wouldn’t be my first choices to put together, like the same guy, and it doesn’t even occur to them to be rude to each other.

I apologize for the slight echo. It should be less of a problem once I can afford to insulate the walls in my closet instead of just recording in a corner of my room, but for now, this is what I have to work with. This passage takes place in the last third of the second book, but I wouldn’t consider it too spoilery. The characters and words belong to Brandon Mull, naturally.

The launch party for Five Kingdoms: Crystal Keepers will be on March 13th. That’s all the info they’ve given out right now, but in past experience the events are usually at Cottonwood High School (SLC, UT) and take place around 6 p.m. If you’re close by, I’d encourage you to come. You can always buy copies of Mull’s books and sometimes T-shirts, there’s a comedy group that performs every year, other authors might be there, you’ll be surrounded by book nerds… aaand I don’t want to be the only person above the age of 12 who isn’t a parent.

I’ll add to this post once I know more.

P.S. I think there will be more, smaller signings around the US, if you prefer smaller crowds or don’t live nearby

I'm new to Tumblr and can't figure out how to submit/post answers to the Beyonders memes. If you can help me out that would be great!

Anon, I hope you haven't been waiting too long for this answer! My inbox on this account never seems to get notifications.

There are a few options for the Beyonders memes. You could reblog the post and fill in your answers in your reblog. You could also just copy and paste the questions into a new text post and answer them there. Those two options are easiest.

If you want to submit your answers directly to this blog, you would need to copy the questions, then click this link (or link 2 on my sidebar, which leads to the submissions box), paste the questions, fill them out, then accept the terms and conditions and click the "submit" button.

I might recommend the first two methods because they're less complicated, but also because if people reblog submissions, sometimes it doesn't show that it's a submission and then it looks like I made the post myself.
