Today is a sad day for the tech world and Downtown Las Vegas. My friend and Chief Happiness Officer of Zappos Tony Hsieh passed away at age 46. Tony created the Downtown Project to revive downtown Las Vegas which revived Downtown Las Vegas. Our condos were at the Ogden until Tony moved into his Airstream park with his llamas just before Boyd and I moved to Miami. I will miss seeing Tony at the tech conferences, eating at Le Thai & Bocho, or running into him at the Donut Bar or the Downtown Cocktail Room. I will never forget the night when Boyd and I ran into Tony at Le Thai as his parents were giving him a finger pointing lesson. That was after he went public with Zappos and had earned more money than most will hold. He still took his parent's advice and criticism as if it were gold. Tony was an inspiration to me and so many others in the tech community. Matter of fact, he even named his coffee shop INSPIRE. His Zappos parties during the MAGIC Fashion Week in Vegas were by far the best parties on Earth. Themed and thought-out, each was fun and relaxing. Everyone couldn't wait to go. Tickets were the talk of the town. People told Tony he was crazy for spending money and buying up Downtown Las Vegas as if he were playing a game of Monopoly. In a way he was. Forbes and other media outlets constantly made fun of him for investing in people over profit. He despised Titles and was my encourager to avoid them at all costs when possible. I will always remember his life lessons and if you haven't already, I highly encourage you to read his books. Italy’s Most Famous Easter 🐇🥰Celebration “Explosion 💥 of The Cart” or the “Scoppio del Carro” in Florence, Italy 🇮🇹 Last Easter, my mom made a beautiful Easter dinner in Scotland. She and I had hopped the pond to Scotland to the Scottish west coastal town of Largs, where my mother-in-law lives full time. My mom loves it so much she “visits” about six months of the year. Mom and I were departing for Italy to one of my new favorite art & manufacturing show called MIDA in Florence, Italy (aka. Firenze). I #travel frequently #globetrotting for work and to visit my European family. Bentley has been to Europe and other countries several times in the past. Until last year I had not experienced any issues. As I stood waiting on the Virgin flight things got ugly. I refused to post my USA 🇺🇸 rights by disembarking. If I did, I knew Bentley’s life was in jeopardy. Scottish authorities at a local counsel, sort of like an American City Counsel would be in charge of his fate. Needless to say rules are not clear and Glasgow Airport and I learned a lot in a day. Since then I’ve done ✅ a massive amount of research to help you all avoid mistakes that are NOT common or heard of. If you’re traveling to Europe and don’t want to read my full blog, please be careful!!! ⚠️Europe and the UK 🇬🇧 are not on the same page at the moment. Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 can’t figure out which rules to follow. None abide by American rules and regulations for E.S.A.s and Service Animals.
