garuhearted:
It’s quiet, and she’s enjoying the peace that comes with it. Mortality gives fresh eyes to the sights around her ; it seems so much more satisfying to simply listen, knowing each sound will never be the same again, including the fragile knock that appears at her window. At first, she believes she’s imagining ( sometimes that happens, but she’s been told not to be concerned about it ) but a curious turn of her head reveals a figure outside, apparently perching like a bird. Cheeks flush at the intrusion of her privacy as she bounces over, then deepen above a love-struck smile when her gentle hands pull back the opening.
Garu, her Garu, is a sight she’s more than happy to take in. A stray breeze blows her hair from her face and replaces it with the sight of his, falling around coloured cheeks that makes her heart squeeze! Her smile never wavers, and a outstretched arm invites him out of the dark and into the warm pink of her personal heaven, a private place for her to weave her special magic.
there is a reluctant sort of force which births into his action the moment the window slides over, a wish deep in his heart that he can just flee his way right now to the safe confinement of his own home and deal with his hair situation by himself, but it all vanishes quickly with two things: the idea of being caught by somebody else when his hair is the way it is ( plus, didn’t he promise tobe for a night duel ? ) , and the sight of pucca ( pucca ! ) in her night gown. the blush is quick, fiery, but garu is at least — he likes to think — honourable enough to keep his wide gaze on her face.
the hand clutching back to her open arm is simpler to be done than he expects, but he blames it simply on the state of his vulnerability. garu is certain should this be in a different circumstance, he wouldn’t be this ——— easy? quick to accept her skinship? he wouldn’t be this willing. pucca, after all, is terrifying in her strength - even if garu never admits them aloud. oh, well - not that he could. a twirl of a black strand ! and garu squeezes the arm which belongs to her, gaze averting uncharacteristically downwards while he showcase the fallen hair. his unspoken question goes help me?

me??? loving your ass???? MORE LIKELY THAN YOU THINK!!!
it’s shameless to suddenly appear from the shadows especially when the other person isn’t at all an enemy. but habits are hard to break, and so from the shadows, garu appears. still, at the sight of the other man, he bows both apologetically and in greeting. it’s been a while since he’s seen the other. garu is glad they’ve crossed paths once more. and he isn’t usually glad to see the same person twice - with the way he lives, it’s hard to maintain friends or anything of the like. garu wonders, rather foolishly, if arthur considers them friends.
[how are you?]
garu writes across the skin of his own wrist as he pulls the glove off, eyes blinking forward and expression surprisingly honest.
@aquajr ♡’d !
I’ve started thinking of people as wounds / that don’t heal.
Yves Olade, from “Juda Reconsidered,” published in Kingdoms in the Wild (via lifeinpoetry)
alright, so he kind of feels like an ass now for being such a dick about it. especially given that realistically, if anyone from the league was going to turn up on his balcony in the middle of the night, jason would indeed prefer it be garu. so he sighs, steps aside so the other can enter. because really, he probably couldn’t leave the guy out there even if he wanted to–which he kind of doesn’t? it’s complicated. and anything to do with the league seldom bodes well for the likes of him. but it could be worse, that’s what he’s telling himself. much worse in fact. it could have been talia. and that was a whole other issue he was never willing to deal with. thankfully she seemed as reluctant to have anything to do with him these days as he was. small mercies, he supposes.
“don’t worry ‘bout it. c’mon, let’s get you somethin’ for that.”
not the first time nor the last someone’s turned up on his doorstep ( or windowsill ) looking slightly worse for wear. in fact it seems to be just about the only time he has any visitors. but that’s probably for the best. he doesn’t pay much mind to the other, simply opens the door for him and steps back inside himself.
“i take it this isn’t a social call?”
another respectable nod is passed along as garu finally trudges in into the apartment , trying not to comment on the fact that , for a dead person — jason keeps a rather neat apartment . at his question , garu merely turns back to blink , embarrassed for a moment that his exhaustion is oh-so-very apparent that he needs more time to process what was being asked , rather than usual . eyes identifying a scattered pamphlet on the table , garu points to it
may i ?
he asks , before feeling for a pen he always brings with him to write on it. with a precise handwriting , garu begins to note in fluent english : [ i need a moment of rest to replenish my chakra in order to heal myself. i fear my opponents have worn me down . ] he merely explains , skipping ahead of his suspicions that his “ opponents ” were indeed just the league’s work , trying to draw out more ancient techniques out of him . he doesn’t think jason would be interested to know that as well , since the other male tends to not get himself involved with other people’s ruckus as much . which is a good thing , garu thinks .
[ will that be alright ? ] garu notes a bit more , before he surrenders his standing position to one that’s crouching — always in a typical ninja-like pose — feeling the blanket of tiredness draping heavily across his shoulders . his shoulders sag , and the pen rolls away from his palm to the floor . pathetic , he scowls to himself , hoping jason wouldn’t judge .
knock, knock.
just simple sound and yet — every bump of his curled fingers hitting the almost paper-like fabric resonates deeply within him. the air outside is cold, but it isn’t the reason garu is folding in on himself as he balances his whole weight atop of the roof right . . . ——— right by her window. garu isn’t sure which is more embarrassing: the idea of being caught with his hair down, or being caught in pucca’s room when garu’s well aware her uncles were just downstairs. but wait he does, ears perking up with the intention of listening in to any sound of danger, or, particularly, pucca, coming to his saviour. his cheek heats up - but garu is content on blaming the freezing weather.
@garuhearted didn’t ♡ this, but uhhh have this?
Woobin (✿´‿`)
GARU BELIEVES HIS FATHER’S WORDS OF HIM BEING A DISAPPOINTMENT IMMENSELY. to round it up, garu is a surprisingly very obedient child. he’s traditional, though fact remains that whether garu was obedient due to the culture of society there ( where offsprings were expected to heed to parents’ commands without questions being asked ) or the culture of his own family remains unknown. still, garu’s faith in his family — particularly his father, the head of the inoue clan — never wavers. so when father claims that garu is dishonourable, weak, useless, he never really fights back.
this is a fact garu carries strongly into his adulthood. he knows, deep in his heart, no matter how strong he became, no matter how good of a warrior he may be to have people depend on him so, HE CAN NEVER REALLY GAIN FATHER’S TRUE APPROVAL - thus highlighting garu’s strong belief that he truly is without worth. ( plus, the fact that he became a full-fledged ninja, which is a disgrace in comparison to being a samurai, has already implied that garu lives a life that he cannot turn back from. )
but gary never stops his training . why? because despite his belief, childishly, he still holds a certain torch that father might want him back. this ambition, of course, became somewhat MOOT when, in both marvel and dc verses, he ended up becoming a slow-ageing warrior assassin whose father was long gone. but at that point, with the threat of a new and frightening era so very different from how he remembers the world to be, being a ninja becomes a strong mask of familiarity he cannot help from clinging upon.
in the end, garu remains a ninja not because he desires so, and his skilled and talents as a warrior — though advanced and impressive — means quite nothing to him. HE BECOMES A NINJA BECAUSE IT’S NECESSARY - BECAUSE HE HADN’T KNOWN HOW ELSE TO LIVE. but apart of garu will always remain vacant, empty. he never voices them out, couldn’t, doesn’t think he will, but fact still stands: even hundred years ahead, his loyalty to father and his family ( and their thoughts ) never lets up.

GARU IS NOT A MAN OF MANY WORDS. independent multi-verses ( marvel and dc verses available ) and canon divergent, aged up garu, a lone ninja, from pucca franchise. revamped.
tag dump! heart 1 ( basic ) / heart 2 ( about ) / heart 3 ( verses ) / heart 4 ( misc )
NO two people were alike , no matter how many patients and clients she went through per day , every week , for the past few years . this man was no different ; he was different , but in a way she couldn’t quite place . ( probably a terrible idea to start inferencing things about a person before even getting to know them . but then again , maybe not . ) as the other starts to unbutton his shirt , cheeks stain bright red and she raises her arms to stop him as he indicates his name , both in korean & japanese , languages both familiar to her . the engish version of the tattoos are on his arm . ❛ helen . helen cho of the avengers , i guess . ❜ quick laughs are stolen as she tries to reason with herself as to why she even said that ; and why the other wouldn’t talk .
as a doctor , she’s been through a fair share of mutes and other disabled people requiring lots of assistance in assimilating to a life in complete darkness , silence , and restraint .
❛ do you read sign language ? ❜ quick , awkward signs are managed as helen reaches down for the cat currently napping contentedly at her feet . right at her ankles , to be specific . the doctor can only hope she signed it right , considering she hasn’t used it in almost three years . ( it’d be even more awkward if he couldn’t , but she doesn’t dwell on that thought too long . one thing at a time , right ? ) .
and the other’s last motions let her exhale a bout of held breath . he won’t be out to hurt her , probably . probably .
❛ come in , i won’t take your cat . promise . ❜ is said out loud , as helen momentarily forgets to sign . hopefully it didn’t matter . but then again , even villains could do with coffee .
of the avengers , she tells and a pair of raised eyebrows are turned out of pure interest … that is , before the paranoia kicks in. what is this ? something in him has hissed , could this be that this is apart of S.P.E.A.R.’s plan to keep a better hold of him ? would they really think garu wouldn’t risk hurting a woman if it means it would guarantee his freedom , at last ? not that he has any high hopes for it . it seems the more the century grows , the more people were inclined to treat his false mortality as a reason to treat him like an object . was that what he will be to her — her who is a spy , perhaps ? — just another subject to look after.
but then , if she were spying … why would she inform him so willy-nilly ? avengers , she said — right , he has to inform his supervisor that and ask them if she were too , secretly , a SPEAR agent perhaps .
avoiding slyly of the question regarding his ability to sign , garu merely turns his attention back to mio to gain back its attention so they could retreat back to their own home and not bother anybody else. ( there’s nothing garu hates more than to be a bother his father , after all , has been a large factor as to why the feeling resonates so heavily . ) but then her offer of some friendly beverages is being brought up again and she’s taking his head and she’s beckoning him to come in …
a finger taps her shoulder half-way as she’s entering her own quarters and garu waits until he has all of her focus on him before he gently writes the word TEA ? in modern korean across her bare wrist that’s curled around his smug cat. garu isn’t very fond of coffee , if that’s what she’s offering but tea … now that reminds him of the years before machines conquered most of the world. the easier times . even father’s wrath and shame over his skinny being weren’t too bad as he reflects on it now .
