Food preferences for Priscilla and her ladies-in-waiting?

This is a fun question!

Priscilla - I feel like she has a really robust and rich taste for food, like her father, though she has far greater restraint than him and doesn't over indulge. Enjoys red meat and game meat (venison, rabbit, elk, boar, etc), I feel like she really enjoys lamb in particularly (since it tends to be soft and really juicy). Enjoys her food spiced or glazed with flavor, and will eat lighter things such as poultry or vegetables. I see her being big into hearty soups/stews/pottages, as well as aged cheeses and bread. Definitely has her parents taste for good wine, but once again, exercises healthy restraint.

Cordelia - Enjoys a mix of heavy meals of red or game meat, and seafood (since her home, Greenstone, is an island). Probably eats very light seafood dishes throughout the day for breakfast or lunch, but enjoys heavier, heartier meals in the evening. I see her enjoying rich tasting fish best, like salmon, tuna, mackerel, or black cod, and liking buttery lobster or crabs. Probably drinks a lot of white wines since those tend to pair best with fish/seafood.

Rohanne - Highkey I feel like she shares Priscilla's rich taste but is just a tad more indulgent. Really likes lavish foods, high quality veggies, meats, cheeses, breads, and fruits. Probably enjoys a mix of red meat, poultry, and seafood, but dislikes anything gamey. Enjoys flavorful foods, and tends to eat pretty richly for all her meals. Has a sweet tooth as well, enjoying pies, tarts, custards, cakes, and enjoys drinking sweet wines.

Teora - Light eater with light, almost simple preferences due to being raised by a religiously devout mother. Eats predominantly vegetables for her meals, but also eats poultry and seafood, seldom red or heavy game meat however. I feel like she has a particular liking for eggs and quail, and when she desires something sweet she'll go for fruit over a pastry. She waters her wine quite a bit, or drinks tea instead. Will occasionally fast for religious reasons, but not too frequently, as she is not as piously devout as her mother.

Anastasia - Another light, disciplined appetite here, though less out of religious sentiment and more out of preference and appearances. Anastasia is a young woman who likes to keep a strict, refined look, so she does not allow herself to over indulge or make herself appear boorish by having overly indulgent or heavy food preferences. She eats mostly poultry or light game animals (rabbits, hares, squirrels, etc.), along with seasoned vegetables and fruits. Drinks a lot of dry wines, I can't see her being into sweets at all.

Margot - The Reach is the realm's bread basket, so she has rich, indulgent tastes. Loves quality foods; the best veggies, freshest seafood, richest red meat, and the sweetest wine. I definitely think she has a considerable sweet tooth, enjoying pastries and cakes heavily, especially desserts that combined the more refreshing sweetness of fruits & berries with the denser sweetness of a baked good. Favors sweet white wines best.

Lilja - Unsurprisingly, she favors seafood best, enjoying the tastes of fish & shellfish. She doesn't have an overly refined palate, she'll enjoy a refined seafood platter served at the king's table, but also would gladly eat a humble fish & prawn stew served by a common sailor's wife if offered. She secretly longs for the taste of the food of the Iron Islands; the salted fish, the meat jerky spiced with black pepper, the corned beef, the dark rye breads, the sharp cheeses, and hard ales. It's not the most refined cultural cuisine, very tough & hardy, but it's the taste of home and she misses it.

What is the history of the Cannibal in your universe where Daemon claims him? I know some people say he came from Valyria, others say he was Maegor's egg that hatched etc. I'm sure he can't be older than balerion and vhagar in your au because he would be way to big in comparison to Nightfyre.

I actually am making a big post on the dragons my OC's ride (both my fanmade dragons & canon dragons) so I talk a lot about my headcanon lore for the Cannibal in it since he's Daenyra's dragon. But I can summarize it here for you! Essentially, I headcanon him a hatchling of Balerion and Vhagar, from the same clutch as Vermithor (their brothers). The Cannibal hatched first, and was initially meant for Maegor, but Maegor rejected him in favor of waiting for Balerion to become available. Furthermore, I like to think as a hatchling he was a bit runty, so Vhagar kinda ostracized him a bit. Because of these factors, he grew up wild and spiteful. He is roughly a few years older than Vermithor, but relatively around the same size as his brother. He's certainly considerably bigger than Nightfyre, but Nightfyre grows to a fairly formidable size by the time she has her eggs (following book sizing for dragons rather than show sizing since the show shrinks the dragons a lot T_T).

For your Dragonlord ocs, what is their alcohol tolerance?

Lmaooo this is a rrly fun question tbh, I'll categorize them in level of tolerance for now, but if their is anyone who's drunken behavior u want to understand in greater depth, don't be afraid to ask!

Low tolerance - Maera, Daenaera

Somewhere in between - Saerea, Viseryn

Medium tolerance - Haera, Saeron, Aemon

Somewhere in between - Daenyra, Visenya, Daegor I, Daeneron

High tolerance - Shaera, Daegor II, Valor

Goerge R.R Martin actually is a fan of I, Claudius. He once said that he based Stannis partly on the portrayal of one of the characters.

I just answered a similar ask that pointed out the same coincidence lmao. I did not know Stannis was partly based off one of the characters in the series! How intriguing!

Another annoying breed of hypocrisy inside the fandom, is the people who will write an whole essay about Westerosi customs and standards when it serves their favorite characters, but will ignore Westerosi norms when it does not benefit their favorite characters.

Of course, taking the customs and norms of the setting into account is important to property understand a character. For example, in “I, Claudius”, Antonia constant rants about morals and strictness to her children makes her seem haughty and mean to the audience. But by the standards of the time and place/society the story is set in, Antonia is actually one of the most honorable and morally upright characters in the book: she is pious in serving the gods, manages the household in a thrifty and economical manner (is described to do things like saving candle-ends and melting them down into candles again, and selling the kitchen refuse to pig-keepers, and mixing charcoal-dust with some liquid or other and kneading it into cakes which, when dried, burned almost as well as charcoal), a loving and devoted wife to her husband, tries to instill proper values in her children, and is firm but is otherwise said to treat her slaves well (in that they are not worked to the bone, and not beaten for minor offenses or at random, and her final request is that Claudius treat them kindly as they had served her loyally. Which is not much, but better than what kind of treatment they might receive in other households). Aside from her cold and harsh treatment of Claudius, Antonia is otherwise represented as an ideal matron by the standards of when the books takes place.

But the issue is, quite in a few people in Asoiaf fandom rant and rave about Westerosi standards in defense of their favorite characters but suddenly use modern standards for characters they hate or when it serves their favorite characters. Examples: Daemon Blackfyre can just flee his arrest and then promptly commit the treason he was supposedly falsely accused of, but the same people call Daeron bad for ordering someone arrested in light of serious accusations even though fan favorites like Ned stark would also likely have someone arrested if he heard that they were plotting against him. Then there are the people who say the Andals are evil but the conqueror trio were just bringing peace to lowly Westeros. And so.

Yeah, I think people tend to hold the world to modern standards a bit too much. I think it is correct to criticize the issues within a medieval feudal society as readers/an audience, but to expect everything in text to be upheld with modern standards/values doesn't make much sense.

People complained about Rhaeny’s dragon being slain in Dorne, but it was stated that some dragonlords in Tyrosh and Lysa survived the Doom of Valyria, but the citizens killed the dragons and their dragon-riders. Meaning that slaying a dragon is not impossible. It also mentioned that during the days of the Valyrian freehold, Prince Garin of Chroyane led an army of a 250,000 men and defeated the Valyrian armies at Selhorys, Valysar, and Volon Therys, where they won their greatest victory by defeating an army of a hundred thousand men and that Garin and his men slayed two dragons in the process.

If I were in charge of writing it, I would have made it so Dorne learns the way to slay a dragon from old Lysene or Tyroshi records or something like that.

That would be pretty cool! Though I do think there's a lot of context we're missing, such as the size of the dragons, the means of which they were killed, etc. The situation in Tyrosh and Lys sounds a lot like the dragonpit situation in ways, whereas Prince Garin's war was impressive, but with that many men, he brought down only two dragons. I'm assuming Dorne's forces are likely not as great in numbers, so taking down two dragons, much less the conqueror's three would've been a difficult feat, if not for the chance scorpion bolt hitting Meraxes' eye. Considering how little we know about dragons, or dragon slaying, it almost seems like there's less of an exact method of dragon slaying in Essos, and more like killing a dragon is just a wild chance thing. Like hitting an almost impossible mark (which I suppose makes the feat all the more impressive!). Also, dragon slaying stories seem to be spread more like mythos and tales in Westeros, such as Ser Serwyn of the Mirror Shield. I wonder if any of the tales of dragon slayers from Essos did ever cross borders into Westeros, that would be pretty cool.

Tyrosh is heavily involved in the slave trade, and as the granddaughter of an archon, Parisa and her family would probably have a few of their own. Do you think that Parisa was surprised by the lack of them in Westeros when she sent to be raised by Visenya and Daemon? Or that perhaps Bittersteel would have mentioned it at some point.

I think she was a bit surprised at first, but adapted pretty quickly considering the fact she was still a very young child. I can't say Aegor would've warned her, as I feel like it wasn't something he would've even considered coming as a shock to her (I doubt he was thinking about her reaction to the serving class at all, more focused on prepping her for her interactions with the Blackfyres themselves).

Has anyone at court managed to earn Visenya’s favor. I know you said that Daeron valued Visenya’s recommendations highly but her favor was hard to earn,

Hmmm... most of the people who held her immediate favor were relatives. Daeron, Daenerys, her nephews (Baelor, Aerys, Rhaegel, & Maekar), her good-sister Myriah Martell, Brynden "Bloodraven", Shiera, and eventually Daemon when their marriage allowed her to warm up to him. But as for actual members of court, it's hard to say as she was very sharp, critical, and observant towards every interaction she made. She was on relatively good terms with the Dornish nobles at court, offering favor and support as a way to benefit both Daeron, Myriah, and Dany, since her favor strengthened their positions at court. The Blackwoods held some good esteem with her as well due to Melissa Blackwood's good relationship with her mother when she was still alive (and thanks to Mya, Gwenys, and Brynden's presences). The Brackens held low favor with her, however, due to Barba's actions when her mother was still recovering from birth, and her general poor relationship with Aegor. On council, her favor leaned towards more like-minded, honest, and duty-focused lords rather than lords that actively vied for her favor. Just because they kissed up to her doesn't mean they were loyal or genuine or had the realm's best interests in mind.

Perhaps? If Daeron had a corrupt wife or daughter, I definitely think Visenya would have plans ready to deal with them for different circumstances. She would be more keen to having them executed (or at least just the wife) if they were to try and grab for power after Daeron's death. But if Daeron were alive? I think she'd gather evidence of their treason and corruption, enough that Daeron would have to acknowledge their wrongdoings, and either get them stripped of titles or exiled. Visenya is efficient and prioritizes the stability of the realm, but she is not violent. She'll try a bloodless scheme before a brutal one.
