The shit that’s going down in California right know is fucking disgusting. I’m watching it unfold around me. People in my community are scared to go outside. Streets and stores and parks are so empty nowadays because people are scared of leaving their houses. Of being separated from their families. Fuck this.
And it makes my blood boil how many ignorant people are in support of this treatment. They act like their lives are lesser than. Like we’re lesser than.
To those ignorant people: All the people you're hating are inherently the same as you. We feel and breathe and bleed like you. And in another life, you would've been born in our shoes. Who has the right to determine that a life is worth less than another anyway?
I know there's so many complicated political layers to all this, but we're missing the point of l i f e when we disregard the individual's innate rights as a human being.
It's so easy to hate or misunderstand people if they're different from you in culture, gender, social group, or whatnot, but making the effort to form connections, get educated, or get involved with other communities can change that. Each human being experiences the world in their own unique way, with their own unique body, perspective, memories, and circumstances.Imagine if we could be more curious and open minded about each other instead of hateful and fearful.
And for la raza and immigrants in general (cuz they’re not just targeting Mexicans) I want to acknowledge how incredibly tiring prejudice can be to deal with on the receiving end. Facing the same bullshit over and over can really wear you down because it’s real. And that's why it's so important to find people who relate to your struggles. To be in community where you know damn right you belong. Where all your pain and heartache is validated. Where you don't have to hide or mask or prove anything. Where you feel so safe and loved. Aka, people who care that you're a real person. And don’t just see you for your status or color.
No matter who you were born as, YOUR LIFE HAS VALUE. Your voice deserves to be HEARD. And don't let anyone ever try to convince you otherwise.

I don't give a flying fuck. All of that is socially constructed. All of those are standards created through the Western, Industrialized lens. Who put them in charge of humanity??
Doesn't matter your culture, your sexuality, your gender, your immigration, status, your age, your body, your religion, or anything else. Your life is matters the same as anyone else because of the mere fact that you exist, period. This shouldn't even need to be said, but I'll say it in case you ever forget.
Don't you let anyone ever convince you otherwise.
