“it’s not a handout, frank.” mat clicked his tongue lightly against the roof of his mouth, shifting his weight and passing his cane from one hand to the other. “i want to help you. you don’t have to burn your life down here like you did in new york.”
❝ i’m not burning my life down, alright. new york was different. that was --- ❞ he stopped, dark eyes leveling with matt’s face. even if he couldn’t technically see him, he saw enough. ❝ --- that was about my family. you know that. ❞

Karen didn’t dare ask him what he planned to do to drag these officers out of hiding. She wasn’t sure she wanted to know. Sometimes the less she knew the better it was for the both of them. “My only other lead was my source and he’s dead,” her voice broke a little at those words. Officer Daniel Davidson had been a good man, an honorable man. He died getting Karen the information she needed so far and she was going to make sure he didn’t die in vain. “Sorry,” she whispered as she composed herself. She took a few measured breaths before speaking again. “His apartment might hold some clues. He was tracking those bastards before he got caught.”
the people that got close to this thing were all coming to the same fate. it was why he’d rather put these guys in the ground. less room for them to worm their way out of it, or anywhere else. the truth suffered consequences, and with karen floating around all this, mixed up in it ---- it was putting her in a dangerous position. he knew that, but he also knew he couldn’t talk her out of it. ❝ hey, ‘s --- don’t apologize. ain’t nothin’ to be sorry about. ❞ the gravel in his voice managed to find a softness. he used to be better at this. franks palm gently curved around her upper arm, offering some sort of physical support. not that she needed it. ❝ where’d this guy live ? ❞

Frank Castle. My name is Matthew Murdock. […] Yeah. I know who you are.
Micro knows what the fuck is up
ofdcvils:
“maybe i’m just a masochist,” he replied, shrugging once. matt shook his head. “we could. i could help you, frank. i could make sure that these people get brought to justice. you don’t have to do it yourself.”
❝ i don’t need your help, red. ❞ frank replied lowly, gaze sweeping to the oblivious stir of the world around them. ❝ appreciate the offer, but i got it. why don’t you, uh, ----why don’t you do yourself a favor and stick to your side of the fence this time. ❞ broad shoulders rose and fell in a shrug ❝ you know not everyone needs a handout. ❞
“Oh, I’m sorry…did that hurt your feelings?”
ofdcvils:
“Frank.” Matt didn’t answer his questions, instead just standing there and waiting for an answer—and, in Matt’s defense, he didn’t realize how much of a dad move that was. “Let me help you.” Matt was sure they could get those people without having to kill them. Matt had to believe that people were worth redemption, that things could be solved without extreme violence.
❝ yeah, and why would you wanna go ‘n do that, huh? ❞ he asked, brows furrowing. ❝ didn’t your whole reputation go to shit the last time you helped me? ❞ turn after turn, he just kept trying to help him --- to save him. ❝ we don’t exactly mix well, you ‘n me. not out there. ❞
I think he’s an animal a sick, twisted, venal hero. That’s what we should be calling him. Doing the things the cops won’t do, Frank Castle is a grotesque insult to the Second Amendment, a fascist without the authority. If you ask me, people like Frank Castle ought to be applauded for putting all the thieves and muggers and rapists in the morgue, where they belong. Let those bastards feel scared walking down the street for a change. It’s Son of Sam all over again. It’s Bernie Goetz. It’s like the only thing protecting us is Frank. I just moved my family to New York, and now we’re moving out. If anyone can kill anyone in this town… where does the insanity end?
ofdcvils:
“Who are you after, Frank?” Matt knew that if he just walked away and looked the other way, someone would die, and soon. He couldn’t blame Frank for being the way he was, but Matt couldn’t just stand by when he knew that people were going to die. His conscience wouldn’t allow it. His voice was low, not wanting to draw attention to them. “Why are you here?”
❝ jesus christ... ❞ the words left him in a low breath, near inaudible for anyone that wasn’t matt. ❝ ---- s’good t’see you too. you know karen’s here. she with you, huh? ❞ he asked ❝ this journalist thing she’s doin, suits her. she’s good at it. ❞ frank nodded. ❝ you move down here t’find a new office? ❞
ofdcvils:
“It’s just a question,” he replied, setting his jaw. The Punisher trial had been what had damn near destroyed not only Matt’s career, but his friendships with Foggy and Karen as well—and the worst part was that Matt was so damn self-sacrificing that he would do it all again without a second thought.
❝ look, i didn’t know you were here. ❞ or karen, for that matter. seemed they just couldn’t stop crossing paths. part of him was curious, you know. kinda got him wondering if maybe they’re after the same people. but frank’s frank and he ain’t too into the idea of stretching the circle of people in on hunting the group he’s after. hell, if it weren’t for karen, he’d be doin’ it all by himself anyway. but he knew better than to tell her to stay out of it.
ofkarenpage:
“I can live with that,” she said with a small smile. It was a minor victory for her, but still a victory. If this worked out properly maybe she could convince Frank that the system wasn’t as broken as he felt it to be. And if it didn’t work out…well, Frank would do what Frank does best. She squeezed his hand gently. “Thank you for hearing me out. I can’t guarantee you won’t regret it, but it’s worth a shot.” She pushed back the loose waves of her blonde hair behind her ears. “What we really need is to catch these officers exchanging drugs with known gang members on tape. If we get that and leak it online there’s no going back for them. The only issue is they’ve gone silent. I haven’t been able to locate any of them since their partner in crime went down.”
slowing to a stop when her hand found his, he notices a stark contrast in the calloused pad of his palm and the smooth warmth of hers. ❝ yeah. ❞ frank murmured, they were never going to come to a long term agreement. at the end of the day, karen wanted ‘em in jail, and he wanted ‘em in the dirt. they were just different that way, he got that. but this once, he might be able to meet her in the middle. hell, it wasn’t like she didn’t bring one hell of an argument. his gaze lifts to hers. ❝ they’re a lot like roaches, y’know. leave a trail of bread crumbs. they just can’t help themselves. ❞ he shook his head. ❝ you let me worry about pullin’ ‘em out of the hidey hole, alright? ----those files, ❞ he nodded to the ones on the table. ❝ they your only leads so far? ❞
ofdcvils:
“well, i can’t see much of anything,” matt joked wryly, tilting his head slightly and listening tot he sound of frank’s heartbeat, recognizing it instantly. “when did you come to star city, frank?” he asked, his jaw clenching slightly as he remembered everything that had happened in new york, everything that had torn apart matt’s firm and everything that matt had staked his reputation on—all because he believed that underneath all of that rough exterior, frank was a good person. he still believed that.
❝ right. ❞ frank murmured, sparing him a glance. they both knew matt’s situation was a little different than most. after everything with franks trial, he didn’t need a scope and rooftop with red unmasked to put it together. ❝ not that long. --- what? i supposed to send a post card first? ❞ he asked.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right, Because their words had forked no lightning they Do not go gentle into that good night.
