Fans of the film will remember her character as the one who famously slapped Chief Brody after the funeral of her son, who was killed by the shark, stating that he knew the beaches were unsafe and still let people swim.

Just throwing this out there, I love the film and it has some good metaphors still relevant obviously, however this movie set back ocean conservation quite a bit. Part of it is the 100s of movies that ripped off jaws, but then original film is partly responsible for giving a false impression of sharks for decades. Shark culls, animal rights for ocean life, general negativity towards sharks, and drops in certain species population can all be tied back to Jaws. It's actually a huge compliment to the filmmaking talents of the cast & crew that the movie had such influence on people's minds. Im not blaming the creators, but this movie made people hate and fear sharks for decades by portraying them in a fantastically villanous fashion.
