A set of commissions I completed for a friend of Ravenpaw which turned into more than a labor of love for me, lol. For all the flowers and stuff, I completed it in record time. 

I originally wanted the second picture to have a more daytime palette but had to switch it to make the two cohesive, but I think it works best this way. The first picture is also more surreal on purpose, illustrating the trauma that Ravenpaw went through at the hands of Tigerclaw. The flowers in that one are supposed to represent innocence and the loss of it, after having witnessed a murder and all.

The second picture is Ravenpaw grown up within a (metaphorical) garden of his own making - his own destiny. His new home, the barn, is silhouetted in the background. The flowers are supposed to represent healing, mostly.

I made this post 4 years ago, and it’s getting traction again, so it’s been brought back to my attention. In those 4 years, I’ve learned more about the term “crackhead”, and how it is heavily racialized and used most often by (non-black) people as an anti-black term. Because I made this post originally with only ableism in mind, I wanted to bring more information forward on what I know now.

The word “crackhead” was formally coined in June 1986, a few months before Congress passed the Anti-Drug Abuse Act, enacting harsher punishments for crack-related offenses. And, to be clear, blackness was conflated with “crackheads” from the term’s inception. The originating source, a June 2, 1986 Time article titled “Crack: A cheap and deadly cocaine is a fast-spreading menace,” stated that “more than half the nation’s so-called crackheads are black.”

here’s a psa from ur local iranian-american, quit pronouncing “Iran” as “eye-ran”, it’s pronounced “ee-rahn”, and when one of us corrects you? fucking. change. start correcting yourself. I get the media sucks with pronouncing it right but at least make a goddamn effort, because it feels like no one really is. ive personally told ppl over 10 times and even then they didn’t get it right.

Pronouncing it like “eye-ran” leads to sososo many racist jokes, and they’re NOT harmless, they’re annoying and rude and overall really insensitive, and that can get to a person. please stop.
