Planning a little mischief today!

My newest map (of the grounds at Hogwarts) arrived yesterday and I’m in love. Seriously, one of the quickest ways to my heart is via a good map—real or fictional. I’d like to think I would have been friends with Fred and George during school. ha. I figure if I memorize the grounds map and the Marauders Map, chances of me getting caught in my adventures are slim to none. If you could have a map to anywhere, which map would you choose? Which place or world (real or fictional) would you like to visit if you could? Recently, Cassandra Clare was asked which book she would like to live in, and she chose the children’s book “Pinkalicious” because nothing too crazy and life threatening happened in it. Same goes for me. Don’t put me anywhere medieval!! I am currently listening to The Goblet of Fire during my Harry Potter reread this year and am deeply in the middle of S.P.E.W. right now.

I don’t know why S.P.E.W. is hitting me harder this time than other times. I always advocate Elvish Welfare around our home, but I tend to focus on the TriWizard Cup or, you know, the return of Voldemort when I’m reading this one.

This time it’s left me thinking about it while I’m not reading. Am I kind and stand up to those who don’t have a voice? Does it matter if you try and advocate for something, if the people/elves don’t all want what you think they should have? Lots of thinking about this right now.

So here are a few facts on S.P.E.W. if you don’t know what it is all about.

“The Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare (S.P.E.W.) was an organization founded in 1994 by Hermoine Granger in response to what she saw as a gross injustice in the treatment of house-elves at the 1994 Quidditch World Cup.

Hermoine originally called the organization “Stop the Outrageous Abuse of Our Fellow Magical Creatures and Campaign for a Change in Their Legal Status”, but since it wouldn’t fit on the badge, she changed the name, though the original name was retained as the heading of the group’s manifesto.”

Joining cost only 2 sickles.

I’d like to think that S.P.E.W. actually eventually sealed the deal for Ron and Hermoine’s relationship. During the battle at Hogwarts, Ron wanted to get the House Elves out of the kitchens and his concern prompted Hermoine to kiss him. haha.

I had a blast last night at the midnight release of The Cursed Child and am looking forward to this final story.

So I raise my glass today! TO THE BOY WHO LIVED!
