The white haired captain grumbled before weakly lifting his head from where it lay on his folded forearms. The days feel too short and his energy feels too limited for the amount of work he constantly has to do. ″You’re not wrong,″ Shiro murmured to Kaiera. At this point, he was too tired to properly argue for why he isn’t or shouldn’t be tired. Shiro would have to give up to his human desires and sleep at least five hours. 

″You do too though. Why aren’t you resting? You’re less well than I am.″ Kaiera recently got hurt, while they were healed for the most part, they still should be conserving their energy for any potential future incident.

Shiro scoffed and flustered with his words, really only eliciting random illiterate sounds to express his distaste with Keith’s attitude. ″But Keith – ″ Shiro made the effort to pout, ″I promised Hunk I’d get this batch done.”

Arrogance got Shiro in this position. Shiro offered to take over the kitchen duties for their Winter Holiday party tomorrow knowing that he absolutely sucked at baking, but Hunk did well instructing him on what to do, however the problem was that Shiro was a disaster regardless of instructions.

″Help me do this and I’ll be able to get to bed earlier.″

‘ it’s four in the morning. why are you still up? ’ He casually leaves out the part where he only knows Shiro is awake because he is also awake.

″Huh?!″ Shiro jolts awake, his eyes blinking away the strain from previously inspecting report after report, his head shaking away the fogginess that confused his brain, it was valid to say Shiro may have been borderline exhausted. He wasn’t planning on admitting that thought. 

 ″Because –″ was the sleepy captain’s response without actually thinking about a compelling reason for being awake at such an egregious hour.  

″I’m the boss of me and everyone else so there.″ He countered with finality in his tone. Shiro wasn’t waiting on Matt’s teasing arguments. He was too dead for that.
