Sock drawer update- my personal collection is slowly growing! I give away the vast majority of my socks (upwards of 75%) but I’m making an effort to knit for myself <3

Turing Socks!
My very first published pattern- check it out over on Ravelry!
Simple yet visually striking ankle socks, this pattern is especially suited to the slightly adventurous beginner looking for an introduction to basic patterning or for the more seasoned knitter looking for something to work on between larger projects. This pattern is written for DPN (double-pointed needles), but would be easily adaptable for those magic-looping their socks.
Alan Turing (1912 – 1954) is widely accepted as the father of the modern computer. After constructing the first computer to break Enigma in the war, he famously invented The Turing Test, a method of evaluating if a computer could be said to be thinking for itself (artificial intelligence). Turning was passionate and brilliant, and made quick work of tasks given to him. I’m honoured to dedicate this pattern to his legacy.

New new pretty pretty- toe ups with stripes! This is Sweet Georgia yarn (the blue one, and for the love of God I lost the tag but...) and the variegated is Alegria in Dragon. Both such amazing yarns, and a treat for my fingers to work with! FO pictures to come, I should be able to fly these off my needles tonight! Love, Kris
Working on my second sock in the most beautiful purple yarn- I had my wisdom teeth removed yesterday, so I have a couple days off work! I'm excited to dig into the tail end of this project 💜 Love, Kris
After an extended hiatus (I'm blaming being busy at school!) I'm back with my newest project- slip stitch patterned socks for my grandmothers birthday :) loving how they're working up, maybe I'll make a proper pattern for them... Anyways! I'm glad to see the sun peaking back out in the always gorgeous Okanagan valley! Kris xxxooo
I'm very excited to announce I'll be releasing my very first sock pattern in the next week! They are toe-up socks with simple mini cables on the front, just the right balance of simple knitting and visual interest :) This will be a free pattern downloadable on Ravelry, and I'll be sure to link it in my blog. I would appreciate so deeply if you helped spread the word, designing is new and amazing world for me, and I simply can't wait to share with you guys! So much love, Kris 💕
Progress on my toe-ups… Very, VERY happy!!! I’m happy with how smooth my toe increases worked out, I used only kfbl (knit through front and back loop) for all the increases and was worried it would lay funny. BUT, it’s working out really well! Happy New Years to you all ❤ I’m pretty new to the knitting community on Tumblr, but I can honestly say I love all of ya, and am grateful for your support! May 2016 bring only the best, Kris
I know it's such a terrible photo, but I just had to share my progress on my FIRST EVER TOE-UP SOCK! As you can see from the photo, I really want to make the Stitch Surfer sock, but figured I should make a vanilla toe up before trying a more complex pattern :) I'm not following a pattern for this (nor do I ever knit from a pattern), I'm reverse-engineering my usual cuff down sock! Back to university in only 4 days... Can't wait for the grind to start back up again! Much love, Kris
You see a pretty striped sock, I see 45 minutes of sewing in the ends, holding onto my faulty sanity
My first Christmas giving away my knitting! It's only three pairs, but I'm so pleased with the progress in the quality of my knitting, the design of my package (I used Canva, you should check it out!!), and the speed at which I was able to whip these babies up! From top to bottom, for my aunt Brooks, for my family friend Ann, and for my aunt Lise. Merry Christmas to you all, and may those last-minute knitters and crocheters get their projects done in time to be under the tree :) Much love, Kris
Thank you for following me. Thank you for reblogging from me. Thank you for liking my posts. Thank you for sending me nice messages. Thank you for staying followed to me. Thank you for making my Tumblr experience amazing. Thank you.
Hey all!
My Yarn swap buddy Taylor sent me some AMAZING blue yarn, and I decided to try my hand at crochet! I’ve never worked with one stick, not two, but I’m enjoying the challenge. It’s growing slowly but steadily, and I’m hoping to make a blanket with it!
Much love from the exhausted-from-final-exams Kris <3
Hey all! It's been a good weekend for me- a treated myself to some new yarn to make socks for my feet, and I got to send my yarn swap buddies package! As you can see, my cat Romeo was a big help getting it wrapped... Only one more week of classes until finals, then Christmas! Love, Kris
My newest wip... Socks for a dear friend’s mother going through some tough health times. I’m using Three Irish Girls yarn, and am in love with this colour! Even though I know they’re going to a well deserving and loving home, I’ll have a hard time parting with these gems :) I’ve finished the leg now, so when I awake, I get to turn the heel!
Much love,
Kris
Okay, one more post tonight! I am so, so, so close to being done by first pair of afterthought heel socks! I just have the very tip of the second heel left to do, a few ends to weave in, then these babies are good to go! The photos aren't quite true to colour- the yarn is softer and more subdued in real life 😍 Kris
Hey all! I’ve just spent the last hour or two toying around on Canva, an amazing site that facilitates the creation of Facebook banners, cards, posters, resumes.... If you can think it, Canva has a template for it! I love using it (did I mention it’s free?? win!)
I made this for my holiday knitting gift tag- I’ve planned to gift quite a few pairs of socks, and maybe a cowl or two! Thoughts on the design/ content? Have I missed a highly important care directive? Let me know people!
Much love,
Kris
Earlier today, working on Christmas socks! This is the first sock, and I'm enjoying knitting this slip stich pattern... However.... Like the noob I am, I didn't bother to make/ take a swatch for gauge, and this little guy is fitting hella tight!! I'm hoping the the recipient has significantly smaller feet than I do! I also have a bit if charity knitting, of sorts, planned for the coming few days! The mother of one of my friends is very ill, and is on chemotherapy. She's having a hard run at it, so I figure I'll knit her something cozy and bright to cheer her up and warn her up. It's midterm week at UBCO, so I'm feeling the pressure, but it's so nice to have knitting to turn to when I needed to de-stress and relax after or before a long day😊 Kris
