I wouldn't say I'm a lapsed cultist. I still accept the basic worldview--I believe that Cthulhu lies in R'lyeh in a deathlike sleep, I believe his Star-spawn shall one day cleanse the earth and usher in an age of shouting and killing and reveling in joy, yada yada--but I'm not, y'know, religious about it. Cthulhu has lied sleeping for, like, countless aeons, he's probably not waking up in my lifetime. I doubt giving up my Friday nights to chant "Cthulhu fhtagn" with a bunch of naked old guys in a basement is gonna wake him up any faster. I mean, if I ever have kids, I'll probably start going again, but that's more about teaching good morals.
I want Christians to understand that this is what you sound like to me.
This is because I, a Christian, wrote it to make fun of Christians.
No, app on my phone, I don't want to edit it with AI. I don't want to generate with AI. I don't want to ask the AI. I don't want to make AI wallpapers. I don't want to rewrite with AI. I don't want t-
People who perform manual labor should be not only given high and liveable wages, but unlimited access to healthcare and physical therapy to help manage the myriad conditions that come from doing back-breaking work.
Like this is not an absurd concept. It bothers me that people think that it is.

This is actually really funny. In high school my humanities teacher told us a story about one of the Europe trips he had gone on with the school a few summers past. So him and the group of kids were in the middle of Rome and the tour guide had gotten lost. They could figure out how to get to some church they were going to see. All of a sudden one of the students like call attention to himself. He says he knows where to go and just start walking around the streets, taking back roads and side streets and within 20 mins they’re at the church they needed to get to. My teacher asks the kid if he has every been to Italy before. He says no, he just knew where to go because he played Assassins Creed Brotherhood.

My kid identified a birch at my dads house because the birch trees in Minecraft have realistically colored bark.
My dad got so excited about having a nature lover in the family until “oh, video games.”
Like dude you bought me a game called Sim Park that was literally about building a wildlife preserve and the only way to get money in the game was to either let humans show up and rent the place out or take quizzes about identifying plants. We got so good at leaf identification, and you took us camping exactly zero times.
Yeah my daughter’s school did a project on Ancient Egypt during lockdown. We fired up Assassins Creed Origins in educational mode and let her explore.
I passed a pop homework quiz on Mansa Musa in 8th grade bc of the Carmen Sandiego Chase Through Time game
LADY CAPULET: Thou knowest my daughter’s of a pretty age. NURSE: Faith, I can tell her age unto an hour. LADY CAPULET: She’s not fourteen. NURSE: I’ll lay fourteen of my teeth (and yet, to my teen be it spoken, I have but four) she’s not fourteen. How long is it now to Lammastide? LADY CAPULET: A fortnight and odd days. NURSE: Even or odd, of all days in the year, Come Lammas Eve at night shall she be fourteen.
Happy birthday to Juliet Capulet!
(The holiday of Lammas is celebrated on the first of August.)
So I just saw a post by a random personal blog that said “don’t follow me if we never even had a conversation before” and?????? Not to be rude but literally what the fuck??????????
I’ve had people (non-pornbots) try to strike conversation out of nowhere in my DMs recently, and now I’m wondering if they were doing that because they wanted to follow me and thought they needed to interact first. I feel compelled to say, just in case, that it’s totally okay to follow this blog (or my side blog, for that matter) even if we’ve never talked before.
Also, I’m legit confused. Is this how follow culture works right now? It was worded like it’s common sense but is that really a thing?
Saw a sharp increase in my follower count after posting this. The legitimacy of it is driving me nuts so I also feel the need to say that you can follow anyone on here regardless of whether you’ve interacted with them or not. People like the above mentioned blog are exceptions. Perhaps they themselves think they aren’t and therefore will act like they aren’t, but they are, trust me.
Just follow anyone you wanna follow. The worst thing that can happen is maybe getting soft-blocked by the other person, but if they do soft-block you, then they were never that worth following in the first place.
wow. really hope this isn't actually a norm taking hold with new users! this isn't facebook, you don't need to know people before following them
this is the '10 year mutuals you've never spoken to once' site
Follow! REBLOG! It's how the site works!!
Y'all are welcome to follow me and never interact. Or follow me and say hi! Whatever works for you. I'm online a lot, and always willing to chat, but I'm really lousy at responding in a reasonable amount of time. I'm old, forgetful, disabled, and chronically low on spoons. I promise, I will respond though! Just be patient with my ancient crankypants ways. :)
Following me on Tumblr is not like following me down the street. It's okay, I promise.
(chuckle) Same.
Some of my favorite blogs are people I've been following for years and we've never talked, it's how the site works.

ideal living situation is what i call the 'sitcom special' : having all your closest friends live in the same apartment building or neighborhood where you each have your own space but can wander in and out of eachothers homes at will, seemingly always welcome and never at bad times. and also all of you only have jobs when its important to the plot.
