WE'RE ON TUMBLR! BLEED YOUR HEART OUT!
My biggest tip for fanfic writers is this: if you get a character's mannerisms and speech pattern down, you can make them do pretty much whatever you want and it'll feel in character.
Logic: Characters, just like real people, are mallable. There is typically very little that's so truly, heinously out of character that you absolutely cannot make it work under any circumstance. In addition, most fans are also willing to accept characterization stretches if it makes the fic work. Yeah, we all know the villain and the hero wouldn't cuddle for warmth in canon. But if they did do that, how would they do it?
What counts is often not so much 'would the character do this?' and more 'if the character did do this, how would they do it?' If you get 'how' part right, your readers will probably be willing to buy the rest, because it will still feel like their favourite character. But if it doesn't feel like the character anymore, why are they even reading the fic?
Worry less about whether a character would do something, and more about how they'd sound while doing it.
I don't remember where I saw this piece of advice so I can't credit it, unfortunately
But it was along the lines of "instead of asking whether something is out of character, ask 'what would it take for this character to do this'"
Which I think fits really nicely with this advice of making the actual action itself also feel in character
i love writing out numbers and then putting them in parentheses like "one (1)" even when i dont need to i think its funny
As a bisexual person I'm keenly aware of how such stereotypes are inevitably harmful to us, but unfortunately when I see bisexuals in fiction who are Evil and stylish and fuck like champions I can't help but go "oh work" for a sec. It's a difficult conundrum
*asks a question* *gets an answer* āim not reading thatā
i love that itās a carefully worded, well-written, non-inflammatory answer too. which asker wouldnāt know because they wonāt read it. i love website
you are not going to believe what they did with Books

also i cropped the image but the thing they were using as an example was the nut allergy in Hereditary
Asexuals were always part of pride and it really fucking shows when people think it's a recent term.
Although not going by the term "asexual" yet, asexuality was spoken about alongside homosexuality as far back as the 1890s. Asexual history is just as vital to queer history as any other term and I'm so tired of watching us being treated like a new thing
This image is so so fucking important to me
Reblog this, cowards
I love the concept of shipping Grace and Blood covered Markiplier just for the idea that the Eridians find the Irong Lung and open it up and Rocky goes āhuman!! Oh second human friend!! Human companionship for Grace! Rocky can bring new human to human friend Grace and then best friend Grace can have a human mate like Rockyās Adrien!ā With the implication that the only two humans heās ever seen in his life will not only get along but somehow be romantically compatible and inexplicably heās right.
I watched Project Hail Mary with my family last night and I need everyone to know that about 30 seconds after meeting Rocky I said, verbatim, āI wouldnāt want to leave my new alien friend, Iād want him to bring me back to his home planet and build me an aquarium to live in.ā And then continued to make references throughout the film about Rocky building Grace an aquarium/bioactive enclosure on Erid so they could stay together.
Stories about the universal need for connection and companionship you will always be famous

You ever hear that old chestnut about how most people neglect the part of the story of Icarus where he also had to avoid flying too low, lest the spray of the sea soak his feathers and cause him to fall and drown? You ever think about how different the world would be if Icarus died that way instead? If the idiom was to Fly To Close To The Sea? A warning against playing it far too safe, about not stretching your wings and soaring properly? You ever think about how Icarus died because he was happy?
If I told you I wrote this while thinking about the dangers of being visibly trans vs never trying to transition at all, happiness followed by a bright, burning end, smacking hard against a concrete ocean vs playing it too safe and never flying high, dooming you to a cold, crushing end from drowning, You'd believe me, right?

if you're viewed as a conventionally attractive woman you're punished bc you need to be knocked down a peg for thinking you had any inherent value and if you're viewed as unattractive you're punished for daring to exist without permission but that's how it is innit there's no winning when the system was designed to make you lose in the first place! š¤£
People on the internet love to criticize work by Some Guy with zero institutional power like it's made by Disney Studios, and talk about Disney movies like they're made by their personal friend Amy, who is just trying her best,
Based off this tweet and some of the replies lmfao.
