this and also the only difference between fanfic writers and writers who sell their own original works as careers is that fanfics aren’t monetized. that’s all.

being a “professional” writer doesn’t mean your works are inherently better than fanfics. I’ve read so many fics that are more professionally written than some published books.

whether or not a piece of writing is monetized has nothing to do with its quality.

This is how it's done in Eastern Europe. Very many years ago I've seen an old lady in my grandparents' village doing it with a very similar tool and beeswax. You need a REALLY good eye-hand coordination...and ability not to mess your design with your own fingers (which I definitely don't possess).

I love these! I first learned about them as a kid from watching a Reading Rainbow episode where they featured a story about pisanki and also how an artist creates them. One of my favorite cozy episodes!

Hiroshi Nagai's paintings need sunglasses to look at.

They look like how it feels to walk across a parking lot on a 98° summer day without a speck of shade in sight.

They look like heaven but also like you'd burn your bare feet on the ground.

one crazy thing about consuming multiple pieces of media about the same historical figure is that generally the portrayal of the figure herself stays about the same but the side characters will get crazy. like in one her husband is a horrible person who doesn't really love her or know what he's doing and singlehandedly runs his empire into the ground and in another her husband is a good person who is slipping further and further into self destructive tendencies who really really loves her and also doesn't know what he's doing and singlehandedly runs his empire into the ground because you can't play all that fast and loose with historical facts after
