Very loosely inspired by the famous Stahl House (Case Study House #22) in the Hollywood Hills, Claude House is a modernist home built into a low hill that offers much more than what meets the eye.

Built on a large 50x40 lot, the home itself features two stories, including one below grade with access to a beautiful back patio and pool. The sunken patio is enclosed by CMU block walls that are just barely visible from the road, and can be reached via a glass spiral stair from the upper balcony or through the walk out rec room. The patio itself features a large swimming pool, a barbeque and hot tub canopy, room for skill building or relaxing, and a small orchard.
The main rooms are designed to always provide visibility to the balcony and patio below, and as you enter through the small foyer, you'll be greeted by large, floor-to-ceiling glass windows that invite connection to the outdoor spaces. The kitchen is off to the right of the entrance, and to the left is a small sitting area and a half bath.
The archway off the half bath leads to the primary wing, which includes the primary bedroom, a full bath, walk-in closet, and a large home office whose bookshelves are the envy of passersby outside.
This hallways also features a staircase leading to the lower level rec room, a child's bedroom, another full bath, the mudroom, and a large L-shaped garage. With easy access to the pool, the rec room is great for entertaining and features a pool table, TV and lounge space, retro arcade machines, and a bar.
Notes:
-This lot includes some build mode content from the Life Stories Bundle that does not appear as CC.
-There is only one driveway piece in the garage. If you use Mootilda's Rotatable Driveways, you can add a second one to create the L-shape. Cars will teleport to the road from the second piece.
-The house is built into a small slope, and the pool patio is sunken, but all the lot edges are flat and should be easily placed in any neighborhood without distorting the terrain. Maybe just be mindful of low elevations that create the neighborhood "sandy" look.

Update (Nov 17): The garden rocks at the edge of the pathway are no longer included in the download. It came to my attention that sims can't walk over them and therefore can't access the bushes, orchard tree & compost bin

Roland: "Nauwelijks. Met mijn vader heb ik nooit kunnen opschieten. Mijn moeder ne ik af en toe. Ze woont in bij mijn broer. Mun kleine broer Julian is mijn beste vriend. Ik heb met hem te doen, want hij is al jaren werkloos. Mijn oudere broer Carlos werkt in een grote fabriek in Bath, maar ook met hem is er geen sprake van enige verstandhouding. Ook Curt zet zijn familie erg zelden."
Jullie zijn wel allebei getrouwd.
Curt: "Inderdaad. Mijn Vrouw heet Lynn. Ze haalde me letterlik uit het slop. Toen ik als munkant nauwelijks aan bod kwam ging zag uit werken om me in leven fer houden. Ik zal er haar eeuwig dankbaar voor blijven."
HARTSVRIENDINNEN
Hebben jullie veel vrienden?
Roland: "Helemaal niet. Op mijn broer Julian na heb ik het trouwens nooit met mannen kunnen vinden. Behalve mijn vrouw Caroline heb ik wel drie byzonder lieve hartsvriendinnen. Fiona is een begaafde schilderes, Sarah is in de film- en video- wereld bedrijvig en Suzanne studeert nog. Met Caroline en met hen ga ik heel vaak uit."
Gaan Curt en Lynn dan met jullie mee?

"Door vooral onze oren de kost te geven. De meeste van onze songs ontstaan op straat of in de supermarkt. We luisteren naar gesprekken van voorbijgangers en bedenken er melodietjes bij. Wie durft te beweren dat onze songs niet uit het leven gegrepen zijn heeft het dus behoorlijk mis."

Roland: Without a doubt. We both had a lot of problems at home. Our parents were constantly arguing. At school, there were tons of punishments. After college, we thought life was over and we were starting over. We've also experienced quite a few disappointments and setbacks since then. Are you still in touch with your family?
Roland: "Hardly. I never got along with my father. I see my mother occasionally. She lives with my brother. My little brother Julian is my best friend. I feel sorry for him because he's been unemployed for years. My older brother Carlos works in a large factory in Bath, but we don't get along with him either. Curt also very rarely puts his family out."
You are both married.
Curt: "Indeed. My wife's name is Lynn. She literally pulled me out of the doldrums. When I was barely getting a chance as a musician, she went out to work to keep me alive. I will be eternally grateful to her for that."
FRIENDS
Do you have many friends?
Roland: "Not at all. Besides my brother Julian, I've never gotten along with men. Besides my wife Caroline, I have three exceptionally dear best friends. Fiona is a gifted painter, Sarah is active in the film and video world, and Suzanne is still studying. I go out with Caroline and them very often.
Do Curt and Lynn come with you?
Curt: Almost never. Roland and I are good friends and excellent colleagues, but we try to interact as little as possible outside the studio and off the stage. That keeps our friendship and creativity alive. Once you reach the level of music where you regularly have to deliver records and go on tour, the magical feeling quickly disappears. Instead of a fun hobby, it becomes a grueling job.
How do you actually write songs?
"Mainly by listening to our ears. Most of our songs are born on the street or in the supermarket. We listen to conversations of passers by and come up with melodies. So anyone who dares to say that our songs aren't taken from real life is quite mistaken."

" With Mad World‘s again-resurgent popularity, I’m getting asked more frequently about the last line on the album version from “The Hurting,” a line which I occasionally also sing in concert.
The actual line is: “Halargian world.”
(Not “illogical world”, “raunchy young world”(!), “enlarging your world”, or a number of other interesting if not amusing guesses.)
The real story: Halarge was an imaginary planet invented by either Chris Hughes or Ross Cullum during the recording of The Hurting. I added it as a joke during the lead vocal session, and we kept it.
