So the new natural hair care craze is listening to professionals who have styled Afro hair for years and the routine is, weekly shampoo and conditioner and styling the hair, drenched, with gel or mousse. No butters, creams, or oils. And as much as I want to try, that weekly wash aināt sitting right with my poor depressed spirit ..
Lol I know everybody in the replies is freaking out about weekly washes Bc they think their hair ācanātā handle them or they themselves ācanātā do them but the stylist who mainly recommended washing weekly/every couple of days IS disabled! Her steps for āwash dayā (itās really like wash half an hour when you do it properly) are specifically designed to be done quickly Bc she has a disability. Iāve been listening to her advice (most of which is really kinda just basic hygiene and science) for months and my hair is still fine lol if anything itās way healthier now Bc Iām actually cleansing it properly and only using products I absolutely need. Most naturals have been led astray by youtubers and hair bloggers and weāve convinced ourselves our hair is incapable of certain things Bc weāre not 1) cleaning it properly 2) using products properly and also 3) using too many products. One of the stylists Iāve been following has radically changed my view on haircare and my routine in a matter of months. Now I only use 1 of 2 products in my hair when I style it, my wash days are literally half an hour long, and most importantly Iām more educated about hair care so my hair is clean and Iām not wasting tons of money on buying products that I know donāt work. If anybodyās wondering her @ on Twitter is JenniferRoseNYC and her wash day steps are as follows:
De-shed hair BEFORE you get in the shower.
Apply shampoo to your dry hair before getting in the shower. The reason for this is Bc the shampoo will immediately pick up the dirt/grime in your hair.
Step into shower and wet hair profusely with water.
Shampoo your hair (try to use your hands to smooth the hair itself with water and shampoo.)
Rinse out shampoo.
Shampoo a second time with your hair saturated with water once again.
Saturate your hair with water.
Apply a SMALL amount of conditioner to your hands rub them together then work it through your hair strands using water. (If you notice water is the key here. Focus on marrying the conditioner with the water. If youāre doing this right you should start to see your curls pop)
Using a detangling brush of your choice (NOT your fingers) detangling hair with conditioner in it from ends to roots. If your conditioner is good enough and youāre using enough water the brush should glide through with little to no resistance.
Rinse out conditioner. (Btw conditioner should only stay in your hair for however long it says on the container! Hair is like a sponge, it absorbs as much as it can hold very quickly and everything else will just sit on top of it so leaving conditioner in your hair for a long time does nothing for you/your hair.)
Put wet hair into big twists.
Step out of shower and style hair using either 1 gel or 1 wrap foam. Wrap foam for styles meant to be worn out like twists, braids, flexi rods, Bantu knots, etc. Gel for styles that stay in place like wash n go, slick back bun, slick back ponytail, etc.
Again nobody *has* to do this if they donāt want to however I think that itās great that a Black woman is exposing many of the popular believed myths and lies about natural hair Bc it allows consumers to just cut the bullshit and buy what we actually need! (Shampoo, conditioner, [deep conditioner if your hair is bleached or damaged] and maybe 2 or 3 stylers.) I didnāt mean to make this super long post btw lol I just think more people should try to give actually cleansing their hair a chance and see how much money and time they save themselves in the long run!
These are some old YouTube videos she did on how she washes hair btw
I want better for my sisters
Idk seems pretty mature to me and like he communicated well...
He isn't the problem. The girl left medical school for a man that didn't ask her to do that
There are just so many things wrong here, my head hurts. How do you change your whole course for a man that will probably be in and out of prison??????
Why is somebody in med school, on their way to becoming a whole doctor, dating a ātrap niggaā with no future. how does that even happen? Why would you even want to embarrass your family like that, you couldnāt find a responsible man on your level? My grandmother would literally wake up from her grave and slap me, I canāt š¤¦š¾āāļø
I do not feel bad for her at all ...

Iām becoming more aware of my parents own traumas, lack of knowledge and insecurities. And how these things have had a direct influence on how they raised me and deal with me on a day to day basis. No one is perfect and realizing this opens your eyes to a new perspective on how to handle them.
This!! Iāve learned to not take things so personal. It still hurts, but I know that 9/10 itās just them and not me.
Lol yall... Iām using gorilla glue on my next relationship.

Amazing how weāre watching a bunch of white, racist fucks, storm the capitol building of the United States over the fact that they canāt accept their loser of a President lost the election, is unfuckingbelivable. The transparency of minorities and people protesting for human rights and justice in the face of corruption, versus people are sore losers that canāt accept defeat and know theyāre protected because theyāre white Americans, could not be more apparent.
You will remain depressed for the rest of your existence if you donāt learn to take some ownership over your life. Sometimes you do have to take calculated risks, say no and stand up to someone/something that bothers you, make the changes YOU want to see for YOUR life without requiring for external approval to do it. You cannot enjoy your life if you are dormant about your own success or commitment to happiness. Being passive is toxic, donāt let anyone trick you into thinking otherwise, be aggressive and committed to pursuing your deepest desires and go at them until they become a reality, itās completely up to you.
