Tumblr headcanons are legit fanfic
OK hear me out.
You know that thing when someone posts a headcanon like "headcanon that..." or "ok but imagine that..."? It's a narrative, regardless of length or format. It counts as fanfic.
When someone replies with the intention of making it better? Collaborative work.
The same thing but without ties to one work of fiction? Like that thing about putting gay people on one island and straight people on another (I think it started as a reply to a decidedly nonfictional homophobic post, but it evolved into fantasy worldbuilding)? That's legit original fiction. Call it microfiction if you will.
This means we should probably stop saying "someone please write this", because people literally just wrote it. It's perfectly fine to prefer more traditional narrative forms, or to love an idea so much you just want MORE, I get this feeling quite often. It's also perfectly fine to ask for what you want (as long as you avoid putting too much pressure on people I guess?), but maybe we should say it differently.
Like "I'd love for this to be made into long-form fiction / a webcomic /...".
The idea is that maybe we shouldn't imply that a post or a thread of retweets forming a narrative doesn't count as writing, because who says there's no fiction outside of traditional forms? Is that an idea we want to promote? (Also, this is Tumblr, a lot of people here might have low energy for various reasons and the last thing we want to do is tell them they're not real writers when they are).
Thanks for reading, I guess. :)
Me, banging my hand on the ground: HADES TAKE YOUR GIRL BACK ALREADY IT’S HOT AS BALLS
scarlett johansson is shaving her head to play aang as we speak
A dnd party where the ranger’s companion, the wizard’s familiar, the warlock’s patron, and the cleric’s deity are all the same creature
I want to be clear - it’s not that each of these is the same breed of cat, it’s that one cat plays each of these roles, whether it meant to or not, and they all have to share
On second thought, both options are good, because imagine the confusion. Imagine the cleric throwing open the wizard’s door, switching orange tabbies with them, and leaving in a huff with, “I’ve been praying to your mouse-catcher for three hours.”
me: im tired
Someone in walmart: NOT as tired as our TROOPS!
Alternatively, a mother: Just wait until you have kids :)
Honestly the two worst kinds of people ever oh yeah and “wait until you’re my age” the fucking three horsemen of undermining your pain
what about the fourth horseman of “what about all those starving orphans in africa”
“Not as tired as our troops!”: War “Just wait until you have kids”: Pestilence “Wait until you’re my age”: Death “What about all the starving kids in Africa?”: Famine
That’s…. surprisingly accurate.
Dad kept hiding pine nuts in the pages of this magazine and letting Edgar root around for them.
(Edgar cannot be released to the wild due to an injury. He now works as an ambassador bird and general household nuisance.)
Edgar has added to his vocalizations since I last saw him! He used to only say “oh wow” in a really sarcastic voice and to mimic the trill of a screech owl. Now he also screams “WHAT?!” and mumbles “what a WHOPPER!”
It was hysterically funny discussing politics with him in the room. We’d mention some new scandal and he’d randomly interject with cries of astonishment.
Please let Edgar know that I love him
Edgar has graced my dash twice today and I learned something new each time. I too love him.
Helen Mirren and Jane Fonda killing it at Paris Fashion Week | October 1, 2017 (x)
Helen Mirren effortlessly schooling dozens of professional models in their 20s
Queeeeeeens
Don’t get me wrong but.. I think Helen looks even more better as she ages… Just my opinion…
#thats why models should smile i still cant beleive they are trained to act like a piece of wood#THIS is how you sell a garnment not with a ‘im dead inside’ look#i still don’t understand the fashion industry (via @little-water-lily )
I think it's because most models aren't supposed to draw attention to themselves as people, only to the clothes they're modeling. Smiling might draw the attention AWAY from the clothes. Helen Mirren is well-known, so she wants you to know that this is her, she is effectively endorsing the clothes / the designer brand. That's why she's smiling.
me: let's do something productive

me: ok, then let's do something enjoyable first
brain: can't do that either, feeling too guilty for not being productive
Literally me.
callout post for rowena: do ravens even have claws
callout post for godric: do griffins even have doors
About Gryffindor: this may be because I'm French, but I'm thinking it comes from French "d'or", meaning golden? Which would make sense as gold is the house's accent color, and the English elite spoke French for a good part of the Middle Ages (and if it doesn't match historically speaking, let's blame it on JKR's poor math skills xD).
ive been reading a book that basically explains how so-called “brain differences” between the genders is the result of gendered socialization and not the cause of it. i honestly expected the book to be very cis-centric but its actually the opposite, the author stresses that testimony from trans ppl is actually indispensable because we’ve, in a sense, “lived both experiences”
more cis feminists should have this mindset
one of the first examples that she uses to introduce her point about how perception by others can shape a person’s performance actually uses a trans woman. it explains that as a certain trans woman became to be seen as a woman more and more frequently, the ppl arond her eventually started viewing her as being ill equipped for tasks that they did not bother her about pre-transition. eventually she even found herself underperforming in these tasks herself.
whats the name of the book
Delusions of Gender by Cordelia Fine
Here’s a pdf, babes <3
Thanks for the PDF ^^ I just ordered a physical copy of the book because I can, and it also comes as ebook and audiobook! (For some reason I was assuming this was some sort of super confidential out-of-print book but it's not!)

TAKE A LOOK AT THIS CREAM. TAKE A GOOD LONG LOOK.
MEMORIZE THE PACKAGING SO YOU MAKE SURE YOU NEVER BUY THIS CREAM FOR YOURSELF OR ANYONE YOU LOVE.
This post is about vaginas. My vagina in particular. I get yeast infections pretty regularly, and until recently I was able to afford to see a doctor who could prescribe me fluconazole.
Fluconazole, a drug also known by the brand name Diflucan, is a small pink pill. You take two pills a few days apart from each other to restore balance and harmony to your bountiful folds. I’ve never ever had a bad side effect from taking this pill.
Cut to November 2016. I’m a recent college grad without reliable health care coverage in the process of finding a job. And I’m dealing with a yeast infection. Before I moved out of state, my previous doctor told me about Miconazole. She said it was as effective as the pill and hallelujah, it’s over the counter! I decided to purchase the cream pictured above. This treatment only lasted 3 days, a convenient time frame for my schedule.
The application process was a little messy, and some of the cream came in contact with my vulva and labia. Within 5 minutes every piece of skin that had come in contact with the cream, excluding my hands, was on fire. I wanted to scream it was so painful. I began frantically searching for what I should do online.
I found a whole forum of people on drugs.com who had experienced something similar. These comments saved me, and these were just on the first page. There were 33 pages total, the earliest dated July 2009.
I was writhing in pain at 2AM when I found this forum (which I found by searching “my vagina burn itch hurts after miconazole” on Google). As soon as I read these comments I threw the devil cream directly into the trash and jumped in the shower. I didn’t feel any actual relief until I reached in and scraped the cream out of me. I paid $17 plus tax on this bullshit, but I could have just as easily ripped up my money or paid someone to not hurt me.
The moral of the story is that vaginal health care is is completely fucked up because we don’t have access to an over the counter cure for yeast infections that is safe for our bodies and also YOU SHOULD NEVER BUY THIS CREAM EVER.
Reblog to save a vagina.
Okay so I used to get yeast infections every month after my period ‘cause my pH levels were fucked up or something (idk that’s what my doctor said) and I actually used to take this stuff and it was fine. Then a couple years down the road I had a yeast infection for the first time in ages and I used this again and it burned so bad I had to sit in the bath and like physically dig it out of my vagina
AND THEN I LEARNED THAT IT’S BECAUSE I DIDN’T HAVE A YEAST INFECTION. I had a bacterial infection, which is honestly pretty much identical to a yeast infection depending on the severity. The only difference is that IF YOU HAVE A BACTERIAL INFECTION AND TRY TO USE YEAST INFECTION MEDICATION IT WILL HURT
But it’s not actually the medication’s fault. The medication DOES do what it’s supposed to do, provided you’re actually suffering from a yeast infection. Chances are though that you and every one who commented on this did, in fact, have bacterial infections instead.
FORTUNATELY they also make over the counter tests so you can know if you need to call your doctor or just grab some yeast medicine off the shelf. Next time if you aren’t sure, pee on a stick and save yourself a world of fucking pain
AMEN.
It’s unfortunate that I’m 27 and never knew that last bit of information. The world of vaginal health is so obscure and inaccessible.
Reblogging because I too once found out the hard way that I had a bacterial & not yeast infection. 😑
I, too, once set my vagina aflame with miconazole. I didn’t know it was because of a bacterial infection. Reblogging to save a vag.
Reblogging to save a vag.
It’s almost like the shame and stigma thar surrounds vaginas is a danger to the health and well being of people who have vaginas.
Damn y'all #saveavag
always reblog.
Saying that man and woman are the only genders is actually LESS nuanced than saying that earth, water, air, and fire are the only elements.
Reblog this within 10 seconds and unexpected extra money will cum to you this week
The money will do what now
Honestly being disabled affects so many LGBT+ people.
In my town there is only 1 bar that has wheelchair access and guess what?! It’s not the gay bar!
Gay bars are also not accessible (the vast majority of the time) to those who are sensitive to bright lights and loud sounds. Example; some people with epilepsy, autism, PTSD, Tourettes, social anxiety, ect.
The pride march I went to last year would not be accessible (reasonably) for someone in a wheelchair or let’s be real, anyone who can’t walk for an hour +.
The local LGBT+ group I meet up at tries to be accessible but often forgets that if a location has to be changed then the same level of access will almost certainly not apply to the new location.
The LGBT+ friendly bookshop I visited while overseas had a tiny door which barely fit my small wheelchair. There was also a step halfway through the store which meant I only got to view half of the books that were aimed at me.
A lot of LGBT+ resources online are not set out in a way that people with visual or learning disabilities can easily read, or read at all.
The LGBT+ community as a whole (not just the disabled members) need to make a conscious effort to include disabled people where-ever and whenever possible.
We are just as much a part of the community as abled body/minded people.
This is 100% okay for able body/minded people to reblog too.
