thinking about marco cassie parallels and the scene where marco digs an ant out of his flesh because he was fighting it as an ant and it almost killed him and the scene where cassie flosses pieces of dead hork-bajir out of her teeth because she brutally murdered an innocent.

possibly the strangest character i’m attached to is jenny-lynne cadwalader, better known as jenny “lines,” who is presented solely as a kind of dumb appearance-obsessed drug addict who wants to be an actress. her director? producer? manager? is much older than her and values her almost only for her body. jenny-lynne cadwalader is possessed by an alien which steals her life from her in her twenties. this alien drowns her at the bottom of a pool the moment she sees a more desirable human (read: not “a bimbo”). this next human also dismisses and disregards jenny as “a bimbo”. jenny grew up in “podunk” arkansas and her life goal was to get out and get famous. the first time jenny appears she offers to help two strangers and those strangers use that to steal her life and, after years, murder her

The sympathy on Marco's face evaporated. "You're not getting me killed to save your father," he snapped.

It was the whole point. We hurt the innocent in order to stop the evil.

Dear Tobias,

I am your father. You never knew me. And I never knew you. I do not know what your life has been over these many years. I hope that your mother found someone else to love. I know that all memory of me has been erased from her mind. All evidence of my time on Earth has been erased.

I am being given this opportunity to communicate with you by the very creature who has erased my life on Earth. He has called me back to my duty, and I cannot fail.

This will all seem very strange to you, my unknown, unseen, unmet son. But I am not one of your people. I have taken on the form of a human, but I am not human.

I was in a terrible war. I did terrible things. I had to, I suppose. But I grew tired of war, so I ran away. I went and hid among the people of Earth. Among humans. While on Earth, and living as a human, I took the name Alan Fangor. But my true name is Elfangor-Sirinial-Shamtul.

And though you will never know me and we will never meet, I wanted to make sure that you knew my disappearance from your life was not by my choice. I wanted nothing more than to live out my life, loving your mother and loving you as well.

But I was part of something larger than myself. I had my duty. There was a great evil I had to fight. There were lives I had to try and save. Including yours and your mother’s. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the series, creators of the fanbase have come together to bring you a zine of nearly 200+ pages (at which point I'm not even sure we can call it a zine anymore! The correct term at this point would be anthology!), filled with art and writing.

i've started saying "all roads lead to marco animorphs" in casual conversation, and it originally was a joke to explain why i am the way i am. however i do sincerely believe that all roads lead to marco animorphs. in the sense that they lead to marco and edriss and eva, or in the sense that they lead to marco and rachel and cassie, but especially in the sense that they lead to marco and the trolley problem (the trolley problem, of course, is inevitable), and i was talking about this to my english teacher (a marco fan of thirty years; has read baying for blood) and now i will be writing an essay on this subject since he let me pick it as my topic. all roads lead to marco animorphs
