ok ok so so one of the possible takeaways from device theory (as expanded on in https://youtu.be/Ja2cjBZfsjQ) is that Hometown is literally the only part of Deltarune the game that exists, and that Deltarune the game is a reflection of Deltarune the world, right?

This could be interpreted as the existence of some event that caused Deltarune to transform from its own world to being an episodic video game where the only character with free will is the SOUL. This could literally be the start of the game when we gain control of the SOUL, it could be even before then when hometown is closed off completely from the rest of the world, or it could be something entirely different.

My theory is that whatever event caused the “extraction” of hometown is the same one that caused Dess to disappear.

(To be honest this is based off of one dialogue but bear with me)

In the Chapter 5 weird route Noelle monologues about how she feels like she has a designated unchanging role that she’s never been able to escape. This is clearly alluding to the fact that she’s a video game character with no real free will, right? And the moment that she claims is when this feeling starts is WHEN DESS LEFT.

If the Extraction was literally the same event as the Dessappearance then it makes totally sense that the moment when her “Noelle doing Noelle things” slow burn crashout starts is literally THE MOMENT WHEN SHE LOSES HER FREE WILL

If the Extraction happened after the Dessappearance then this monologue only makes sense as Noelle’s anxiety not actually being directly a result of the fact that she is a video game character. While this does make sense, it kind of relegates the whole [noelle is a video game character who doesn’t have free will] - [noelle doesn’t feel like she has free will] to a thematic parallel rather than a diegetic explanation for why she feels this way.

This also makes sense if Dess is the voice in the code, because it offers a possible explanation for how she got stuck there. Namely, something went wrong during the transition from real world to video game and she got stuck in the place in between (the code!)

So the thing is boobs really do be jiggling. If having breasts has taught me anything it is that the ladies frolic.
