• A story spawning generations, utilizing completely different genres, casts, and settings. The theme of fate vs free will; the evil of humanity vs the everyday good; choosing your own path- all are exemplified through a creative, genre breaking story with a unique power system. Fate as a concept is not just something used to give the victory to the good guys, it is a tangible known force within the story. One that both acts as something the characters lust after to obtain their goals, but also a metaphorical device to test them and weave the intricacies of their woes. Jaw-dropping, constantly evolving art; fun and complex characters; unpredictable, ever-changing plots, these are but a few reasons for why JJBA is my favorite series. It is committed to being absolutely everything it can be, and highlights the beauties of life.

genuinely HOW are people boiling wondertwins down to "oh they both dated mike wheeler but they are besties now haha!!" give me wondertwins being jealous and feeling like replacements for the other. the first thing that el hears from mike is "that's not will" hopper thinks she is will most of season one they look eerily similar the worst week of will's life up to that point was the best week of el's up to that point they know each other the least out of anyone in the show and then they become siblings they resent each other-will because el knew his friends for a week and they all fell in love with her and won't stop talking about her and she's a physical reminder of the worst time of his life but she saved his life and found him and sacrificed herself for him and el because will has the normal childhood that she always wanted and the mom that she will never get and the only reason she met her friends are because they were looking for will and the only reason they became friends is because she could help them look for will because she was useful to them and it's her fault that he went through everything he did and he lets her share his mom and his brother and his room and she hates it because this colossal fuck up that has become their lives is her fault, really, and that is why she has to be the one to fix it. they have both died, have both been grieved while still alive, have been connected beyond worlds while still not knowing each other. ohh willel the complexities of your relationship could ever be written by the duffers

CALLING ALL WRITERS, ARTISTS, ANIMATORS, VOICE ACTORS, AND MUSICIANS!!!!

If you were disappointed by how Stranger Things ended, if you felt betrayed, queerbaited, confused, and just appalled by that monstrous let-down of a finale, I'm right there with you.

We watched this show to escape from the horrors of the real world, not to relive them in the cruelest, most malicious way possible.

Seeing how they ruined their own characters, who made many of us feel seen and represented, made a mockery of queer people, of their fans, many of whom remained devoted since day one, and turned a show that used to give us comfort into one that gave the general audience---the very ones it claimed to not be for---more fodder to hate and attack us, it's perfectly acceptable, if not expected, to be upset right now.

But the good thing is, these characters no longer belong to the DB now. Now, they belong to us---the ones who truly understood them in the first place. Now we are the ones who get to tell their story, the real story, since after all they made it so open for interpretation that literally anything is possible.

If you're interested, here's my proposal:

a multi-episode, creatives-driven collaboration to reimagine Stranger Things as a whole and make it what it was originally meant to be: a nostalgic tribute to the 80's and a tale of love and acceptance dedicated to fans who never got to experience that in their own childhoods

A diverse cast of characters with actually ACCURATE representation

A team of 15-20 animators, writers, VAs, etc. who work together on a single project and a community of people who love what the show was supposed to represent but were unsatisfied by the execution (and who just want to put their frustration into something meaningful)

The reimagined series will be posted in parts to a YouTube channel dedicated to the show

A chance to fix the flaws and plot holes in ST lore and world-building and make the ending we actually wanted to see (possessiongate/ conformitygate was such a missed opportunity)

The idea is still a work in progress, but I believe if we work together this could actually be pretty big! If you can't participate, that's okay! Please spread the word and share this post to reach more people so we can actually MAKE. THIS. HAPPEN. Let's show the DB how to do it the RIGHT way.

How the duffers feel after queerbaiting for 10 years, fumbling Mike, Will, and El’s character, writing such a poorly written season and especially finale, so many plot holes, and the show apparently being for us minorities, outcasts, freaks, yet they give us that ending and ‘message’

the number one reason i believe conformity gate is because the ending sounds like something a depressed, repressed gay son of republican parents in smalltown america would come up with to celebrate his friends from a distance whilst he submits to a closeted life of internalised homophobia that haunts him through the spectre of will’s love (painting) hanging by his writing desk, slowly turning into his father… no best friend, no girlfriend, lonely and grieving what could have been, everything he did wrong…

its self-flagellating, and a complete character retcon, the type of thing a queer teenager would write, rewrite and rewrite again, endlessly, to express himself without confronting the truth and being unable fully to come to terms with himself

will haunts him both as a lost love hanging on the wall and a foil to him entirely, as the boy who had the courage to come out, a boy that mike (self-flagellating as he is in his own traumatised mind, which is then exploited by vecna) cannot bear to touch after that one hug in episode 5 and is symbolically opposite to him at the dnd table, bathed in light, with a lock around his neck. forever unreachable, the one that got away.

this is not a happy ending. the vibes replicate the creel house when vecna took the kids. this, trapping mike’s love for will on a shelf in the basement, hanging a reminder on his wall, is self-flagellation.

that is why conformity gate is compelling to me as a mike wheeler fan, even without byler ever having to be canon.

either way, its queerbait and its unforgivable. even if they do pull this off, they still fucked us over for at least a week and a half with people calling us delusional for daring to believe in a queer ship with substantial evidence.

people can do amazing things when someone believes in them: for will that was robin and mike, for el it was hopper and maybe kali (mike had to be constantly reassured that she could do it although its debatable), and for mike? it’s always been will

will, who asked the storyteller what his story was going to be, something nobody else asked, showing him the kind of care nobody else afforded him. in mike’s mind, the prospect of being loved by will, as a freely queer boy, is diametrically opposed to him and forever untouchable.

bc again, the money, but most of all the industry would likely (definitely) ruin your career if you spoke up. bc no one in that realm would dare to work w someone who "slanders" their own media for not being "woke enough".

i have absolutely zero draw to actors, i find the lot of them grossly out of touch and/or corrupt. but these were actual children that began this show, children who many of did not get the fulfillment or message of happy endings being realistic, in an industry where there's concentrated, chronic child abuse and loss of their lives later on from the trauma. they showed children being abused in some of the worst ways possible and in the end said... yup, deal with it. thats life, kid.
