i need you to understand that when i talk about medical fatphobia (or fatphobia in general) i am especially talking about the fattest person you could ever fucking imagine. yes i am also talking about small fat people and “chubby” people. but i am ESPECIALLY talking about people who are so fat they can’t take care of themselves, who can’t walk, who can’t take care of hygiene independently, who do nothing but sit/lie down all day and eat.

you need to get in your head that these fat people are human too, who are deserving of good healthcare. if you only support people who are a little fat or if your support is conditional based on weight and peoples efforts to lose weight or not, it’s not support. it’s eugenics.

i've been so pilled on the fact that dieting doesn't work that it's surprising to me that a space that's ostensibly about celebrating weight gain will still spread basic misinformation like this

when i encourage people to gain weight i genuinely do warn them that they are making permanent changes to their body and that they will have to be okay with it. you do not have perfect control over how your body responds to weight gain, once you start gaining weight you can't always will your body to stop, but it's fine because being fat is awesome.

this "you don't have perfect control over your weight and body" goes both ways, too. a lot of people struggle to put on any weight at all, i've been stuck at around 260 pounds after losing a bunch of weight i didn't want to lose. yes you should encourage people to gain weight and love their fat bodies but don't lie to them and tell them they can always diet to lose weight. you're shilling for the weight loss industry
