Calling ao3 archaic is very funny considering it's the newest of the major fanfiction sites. It's design isn't necessarily older in style than the other sites, and algorithms were very normal on websites when ao3 was built, it's just built primarily as a database (or archive) rather than a social media platform. Maybe I am out of touch but what fic hosting sites could be considered flashy?
