My pitch for a late season TNG episode would be Data and Deanna solve chess [not and/or barely explained] and they have to go to a chess convention with a bunch of chessists made up of 90s B & C celebrities in increasingly less inspired alien makeup. The rest of the main cast comes along to and while Data and Deanna have an A plot with presenting how they solved chess and meeting people, one of the chessist is a murderer that the crew recognized from whatever and they have to convict them at the space chess convention. There could also be a C plot of like a chess torment. Depending.
