What it's your big hot take about Tvdu? Mine is that Joseph Morgan is not even on the top 3 best actors of the universe. Let alone the best. It also kills me when people say he could still pull off playing Klaus. Absolutely not. I think the character made him attractive but in reality he's very mid. 🤷‍♀️

My hottest TVDU take is that I truly dont believe theres a single TVDU character that couldnt have been played by another actor, people are just blinded by nostalgia and dick riding to admit that they were all replaceable and theyre not the best of the best

Another take is that only s1 and 2 of TVD were genuinely peak and even then they were a mess, the show went downhill from there, people just glaze the Mikaelsons too much, yes they made the show more interesting BUT the writers didnt have the capabilities to do them justice

My most shameful take is that the ships written by men were my favourite ones, Forwood, Haylijah and Klamille. The women writers would delve into the fanbase and what teenage girls wanted to see which is how we ended up with kl*roline and a lot of corny scenes with other ships too

Kolvina was lazy and I'll never understand how theyre so loved when they were quite literally just based off other ships (including Kennett who's scenes directly inspired some kolvina ones)

Its weird to me how in The Originals the only way a POC could have a happy ending is if they were connected to the Mikaelsons Vincent could only be happy by having Freelin's baby Keelin had to learn to love her kidnapper Marcel married his groomer

Let’s talk about the "Replacement" narrative and why it’s a lie. I am a Klamille shipper first and always, and I am so tired of people acting like Camille was just a placeholder or a consolation prize. You cannot sit here and tell me that a woman who literally became the mental image Klaus used to survive his darkest, most torturous moments was just a "replacement." That isn't how love works, and it’s definitely not how Klaus Mikaelson works.

I’m not here to bash Caroline—I love her—but the way some fans feel they have to tear Cami down just to make Caroline the "only" one is honestly just lazy. They were two completely different lives and two different versions of who Klaus was. Caroline was that initial spark, but Cami was the soul-deep connection that actually met him where he was. She was a brilliant psychiatrist who saw every single monster under his skin and still sat across the table from him. She loved Hope like her own daughter and she stood by that family when everyone else would have run for the hills.

It kills me that Julie Plec does this—constantly sacrificing these incredibly developed, selfless women for the sake of male-centric drama. Cami was innocent, she was kind, she was brave, and she was his equal in every intellectual and emotional way. Their dynamic was this perfect, gut-wrenching mix of toxic and sweet that hit a spot no other ship ever could. You can love them both, but don’t you dare tell me Camille O’Connell wasn't pure, intentional love. She deserved the world and she deserved to stay. I will die on this hill every single day and I’m not moving.

If Klaroline fans had to read Caroline being written the way Camille gets written in so many Klaroline fics, people would absolutely lose their minds.

And before anyone starts, this is not about hating Caroline. This is not even about whether Caroline or Camille is a better character.

It's about the fact that a lot of Klaroline fic writers turn Camille into a jealous, bitter, insecure obstacle whose entire existence revolves around being threatened by Caroline. Half the time she's so out of character that I genuinely wonder why she's even included. If you're going to reduce her to a cardboard cutout, just leave her out of the story.

What's funny is that if Klamille fans collectively started writing Caroline the exact same way, as a jealous ex, a petty rival, or an annoying obstacle standing in Camille's way, the backlash would be immediate. People would be furious.

So all I'm saying is keep the same energy. If it's acceptable to flatten Camille into a stereotype for the sake of your ship, then don't be shocked when people point out how ridiculous it looks when the roles are reversed.

Personally, I think both characters deserve better than being turned into jealous caricatures just to prop up a romance.

thinking about the season 6 prison world arc again and how we were absolutely robbed of a psychological bamon/bonkai love triangle. the narrative raw materials were right there on screen, and instead of the usual heavily romanticized cw triangle, we could have had an absolute psychological pressure cooker.

let's look at the sheer isolation of that 1994 snapshot. four months of just bonnie and damon. they went from historical grievances and mutual hatred to a deeply domestic routine. making pancakes every morning, arguing over crosswords, grocery shopping in empty markets, drinking bourbon on the porch. when you are someone's entire universe and the only person keeping them from existential madness, the line between intense platonic codependency and romantic undercurrents becomes practically nonexistent. it gave bonnie a sense of safety and earned warmth with a partner who was finally prioritizing her, grounding them in an incredibly tight emotional bond.

and then enters kai parker, completely shattering that safe little world.

the thing about developing a bonnie and kai dynamic here is that it wouldn't require some cheap, unearned redemption arc that erases his monstrous actions. the tension works precisely because he remains dangerous. kai spent twenty years entirely alone, treated as a defect by his family. bonnie arrives, this vibrant, resilient, morally unyielding force. for a siphoner witch who has been starved of power and connection, her ancestral magic is the ultimate intoxicating force. and because siphoning requires direct skin contact, there is a visceral, electric intimacy baked right into their physical dynamic that the writers completely left on the table. imagine a slow-burn forced cooperation where they have to map out celestial mechanics together away from damon's disruptive influence, creating a shared witch-heritage bond that damon can't touch.

the psychological chess match between all three of them would have been insane. kai is driven by deep-seated rejection and envy. seeing bonnie and damon's effortless domestic intimacy would trigger his worst insecurities. he wouldn't just try to kill damon; he would try to dismantle bonnie's trust in him. he'd use his knowledge of damon's horrific past to point out the hypocrisy of trusting a vampire who murdered bonnie's loved ones while treating kai as the sole monster. he'd be playing mind games to drive a wedge between them so bonnie is forced to rely on him instead.

meanwhile, damon's volatile, possessive love language would completely flare up. watching a literal psychopath circle bonnie, trying to charm her and constantly touching her to siphon magic, would trigger his most reckless, violent impulses. if bonnie showed even a flicker of strategic empathy toward kai to get them home, damon would see it as a betrayal. his explosive overreactions would end up pushing bonnie away, creating the exact friction kai wanted and fracturing their perfect domestic front.

and bonnie would be trapped right in the center, navigating this exquisite existential dilemma. with damon, she has safety, mutual survival, and the comfort of a shared humanity. but she’s also carrying the moral weight and trauma of their past lives in mystic falls. with kai, she's navigating a minefield, yet she’s also hyper-alive. they match wits in a way that is intellectually stimulating. she would detest his actions but find herself forming an unbidden psychological connection to the very person she needs to escape from. her conflict wouldn't be a superficial choice between two attractive guys; it would be a struggle over who she is becoming in this isolated world where normal rules don't apply.

it would have completely shifted the arc from a simple escape plot to a dark exploration of isolation morality, while finally centering bonnie's narrative agency and romantic desirability without her just being a magical tool used to fix everyone else's problems. the emotional stakes of her eventual sacrifice to send damon back would have been absolutely devastating if she was also saving him from her own fracturing emotions.

I made an anti-Klaroline post, tagged it as anti immediately, and some Klaroline fans came into the comments telling me I shouldn't mention Klaroline at all. My response is basically: I tagged it as anti. If you don't want to see anti-Klaroline content, block the anti tag and move on. It's not difficult. Anyway, here are some more reasons I think Klaus's story would have worked better with Bonnie

Bonnie already had direct conflict with Klaus before any romance would even be considered. Their dynamic starts from a place of genuine opposition. That gives a relationship somewhere to grow instead of starting with attraction and building backward.

Bonnie consistently challenged powerful men. She challenged Damon, Kai, Elijah, Klaus, everyone. Klaus respected strength, determination, and intelligence. Bonnie had all three.

Both characters carried enormous burdens for the people they loved. Klaus's actions were often driven by family. Bonnie repeatedly sacrificed herself for friends and loved ones. They understood responsibility in a way many other characters didn't.

Bonnie had a darkness and ruthlessness that the show rarely explored fully. When pushed far enough, she was willing to make difficult choices. Klaus would recognize that side of her immediately because he had it too.

A Klaus and Bonnie relationship could have connected the magical mythology much more deeply. Bonnie was one of the franchise's most important witches. Klaus was the Original Hybrid. Their stories naturally intersected through the supernatural world.

Bonnie had a habit of seeing through people's excuses. Klaus spent centuries manipulating others. Watching him try to earn trust from someone who couldn't be charmed easily could have been a compelling long-term arc.

Unlike many of Klaus's relationships, Bonnie represented something he couldn't simply take. He couldn't compel her. He couldn't intimidate her into loyalty. He would actually have to change and prove himself.

Narratively, Bonnie was often positioned as the protector of Mystic Falls. Klaus was one of its greatest threats. Turning enemies into reluctant allies and eventually something more provides a stronger foundation for development than immediate attraction.

Bonnie also had chemistry with morally gray and villainous characters throughout the series. Fans still discuss her dynamics with characters like Kai Parker, Kol Mikaelson, and Damon Salvatore because those relationships created tension, conflict, and growth opportunities. Klaus fits naturally into that pattern.

TVD (more specifically Delena and Klaroline fans) harassing Bonkai shippers will always be funny. Like yes, please keep lecturing us about our morals for liking a fanon pairing when your canon ship had a guy sexually assault someone four times or multiple murder attempts.

One thing that will never stop bothering me is how the writers acted like Kol and Bonnie could never work because Bonnie was a witch.

For years, one of the biggest arguments against Kennett was that Kol hated witches, couldn't be with a witch, would never understand a witch, and that Bonnie being a witch somehow made the pairing impossible.

Then suddenly we get Kol and Davina.

And now all the conversations are about how much Kol understands witches, how fascinating magic is to him, how he connects with powerful witches, how being a witch himself deepened his perspective, and how special his bond with a witch can be. So which is it?

Because if Kol can fall deeply in love with Davina, devote himself to her, support her, respect her power, become a witch himself, and build an entire storyline around that connection, then the argument that Bonnie being a witch made Kennett impossible falls apart.

What frustrates me is that Bonnie had all the ingredients for that story long before Davina existed. Bonnie was powerful, stubborn, intelligent, compassionate, and connected to magic in a way that shaped every aspect of her life. Kol was obsessed with magic, obsessed with witches, and endlessly curious about supernatural power. The potential was sitting right there.

Instead, Bonnie's story was constantly about sacrifice. Saving people. Dying for people. Losing things for people. Meanwhile, Davina got a storyline where a Mikaelson actually chose her, fought for her, and centered her.

Because when I watch Kolvina, I don't see proof that Kennett couldn't work. I see proof that it absolutely could have worked. The writers eventually created an entire romance built around Kol and a powerful young witch. They just didn't give that story to Bonnie Bennett.

And honestly? Bonnie should have had a storyline like that. She deserved to be the center of an epic supernatural romance instead of constantly being treated as the solution to everyone else's problems.

I've never found "he was your first love, I intend to be your last, however long it takes" romantic.

If Klaus truly loved Caroline, why is the declaration centered on being her last instead of simply loving her? To me, it sounds less like a promise of love and more like a promise of possession. He's not saying, "I love you," or "I choose you." He's talking about an end goal that may never even happen.

And honestly, "however long it takes" makes it even stranger. So what exactly is the plan? Wait around until every other relationship in her life is over and then claim victory? That's supposed to be romantic? It feels more like a challenge than a love confession.

What bothers me most is that the line gets treated as proof of some epic, eternal love story when Klaus never actually knew what the future would hold. He couldn't promise he would be her last. Nobody can. It's a beautiful sounding sentence, but when you break it down, it's a promise built on something he had no control over.

Personally, I don't think that line represents Klaus at his best. Klaus is passionate, direct, intense. When he genuinely cares, I prefer the moments where he's honest about what he feels now, not making grand declarations about what someone else's future is supposed to look like.

If those words were ever going to land for me, they would've made far more sense directed at Bonnie. The kind of connection I imagine between Klaus and Bonnie is one where the line would carry actual emotional weight because it would be built on mutual understanding, trust, and knowing each other deeply. With Caroline, it always felt like people fell in love with the quote itself more than what was actually happening on screen.

One thing about me is that if I care about injustice somewhere, especially in my own fandom spaces, I’m gonna address it. And today while scrolling through the Vampire Diaries fandom tag, I saw a bunch of really amazing self-shippers posting their content. And I noticed something I’ve always noticed before periods in the character names. “D.amon, K.laus, K.ai, E.nzo” shit like that.

And I always wondered why self-shippers did that. So today I finally looked it up.

The answer genuinely pissed me the fuck off.

You mean to tell me people are putting periods and symbols in character names because fandom people harass them otherwise? Because people get bothered seeing self-shipping content? Are we serious?

And before anybody twists my words, I’m not talking about people who CHOOSE to do that because they personally don’t want to flood tags all day. Like if somebody says, “I post a lot, so I’ll put a period or use emojis so I don’t spam the main tag,” okay. That’s their choice.

But feeling like you HAVE to do it because people in fandom spaces will be weird towards you otherwise is insane.

I’m not a self-shipper personally but I do have a close friend this is one, but self-shippers are part of fandom just as much as anybody else is. They should not have to censor character names like they’re posting something horrible. If somebody wants to self-ship with Damon Salvatore, Kai Parker, Bonnie Bennett, Klaus Mikaelson, Caroline forbes whoever, then who gives a fuck? Scroll. Block the tag. Move on with your life.

Tumblr literally gives you the option to block tags so you never have to see content you dislike again. Use it.

And honestly, I will always be pro-ship. I’m not anti-ship. There’s maybe one very specific ship I genuinely dislike, but outside of that? I truly do not care what people ship or what they do in fandom spaces. Fandom has always been about changing things around, making AUs, rewriting personalities, rewriting relationships, doing weird shit, doing fun shit, projecting onto characters, all of it. That is literally what fandom culture is built on.

You do not own these characters.

And honestly, if seeing somebody self-ship with a fictional character hurts you that deeply, curate your dashboard better. Because making people feel like they have to hide the actual names of characters just to exist comfortably in fandom spaces is weird as hell.

They should be able to type the character’s full name normally. No periods. No symbols. No weird censoring because other people can’t handle scrolling past content they personally dislike.

Like, grow up.

Bonnie Bennett ships I genuinely just do not care for

Not anti any of them, and if you love them that’s completely fine, they just personally do nothing for me.

Bonnie/Stefan — I get the appeal intellectually, I really do, but emotionally I’ve never latched onto it.

Bonnie/Enzo — I know this one is beloved by a lot of people, but it was never my type of dynamic at all.

Bonnie/Damon — again, insanely popular ship, and I understand why people enjoy it, but it’s just not something I’ve ever been invested in personally.

I feel like with Bonnie ships I either become completely obsessed or I feel absolutely nothing in between 😭

One thing I absolutely cannot stand is when people go “well if you can turn a white character black then we should be able to turn black characters white too.”

That argument ignores history so badly it’s insane.

White characters have never lacked representation. White people have never lacked the ability to see themselves as the hero, the love interest, the princess, the chosen one, the powerful one, the beautiful one. That has BEEN the default for decades. Especially in America, whiteness was treated as the standard for beauty, desirability, innocence, femininity, heroism, everything.

POC characters did not get that.

Black people were excluded from stories, erased from stories, stereotyped in stories, killed off in stories, treated as side characters in stories. And when black creators DID make space for themselves, those characters still got treated horribly half the time.

So no, these situations are not equal.

Turning traditionally white characters black is not “taking representation away.” White audiences still have thousands upon thousands of white characters across every genre imaginable. Y’all have endless options for your imagination already because the entire industry was built around you from the start.

Meanwhile POC fans had to fight just to be included at all.

So yes. Let black girls be Ariel. Let Cinderella be black. Let Sleeping Beauty be black. Let superheroes be black. Let iconic male characters be black too. Let little black kids grow up seeing themselves as magical, desired, heroic, soft, powerful, complicated, loved.

Representation is not oppression.

And honestly? If seeing one black version of a character feels threatening to you when whiteness has dominated media forever, maybe ask yourself why that bothers you so much.
