If Regina were being honest, she didn’t recognize half those titles. But Emma was excited, and Emma being excited meant that she would watch anything the blonde wanted. She went upstairs to get the good blankets and pillows first, and then the rest of them in a second trip. By the time she was done there was an abundance of blankets and pillows and she wondered for a moment where they all came from before shrugging as she started piling and lining them up to make the comfiest set up possible.
Emma finally made it into the living room trying so hard not to drop any of the food she was carrying “Uh where do you want this mom?” she asked as she couldn’t really see properly over all the food and really didn’t want to spill anything “Oh I forgot the juice” she announced and placed down all the food where she was told to and ran back into the kitchen to grab them both some juice before bringing it back in “that looks so warm and snuggy” Emma grinned and sat the juice down on the table next to the food before punching onto the blankets on the sofa.
“Sweetie be careful watch where you’re going. Why didn’t you make two trips?” Regina said as she started taking some of the snack’s off of Emma’s pile and placing them on the coffee table. “Put them here.”
She rolled her eyes and chuckled as Emma jumped onto the couch. “Careful darling, don’t hurt yourself.” she said before she joined her daughter. “So which movie was first?”
Regina grinned at the way Emma’s eyes lit up as she listed everything and nodded. “We can get all the pillows and blankets in the house and move the coffee table and make a nice cozy little pillow den like we used to when you were younger. And an abundance of junk food which I know you won’t say no to. And we can watch all your favourites. We can make a night out of it.” she grinned and pulled her Daughter into a deep hug, kissing her head again before letting go. “Clear out the board and get the junk food, I’ll get the blankets and pillows.”
Emma was even more excited now that Regina was into the idea and jumped up to clear away the monopoly “We can watch Pitch Perfect, Imagine Me and You, Bloomington and Into The Woods” Emma started checking off all of her favourite movies as she finished packing away the game then raced through to the kitchen to find all the yummy junk food she could “oh and Elena Undone to!” she couldn’t wait to begin a the movie night with Regina and tried to carry all the food she found into the living room in one go.
Regina wrapped her arms around Emma and kissed her temple again. “I’m not in love with the idea of you cheating to get your way, dear, but it is just a game. I’d prefer if you tried the fair way from now on though.” she said gently as she ran the tips of her fingers through Emma’s golden locks. “If you want to, we can start over, or we can drop the game in favour of a movie if you’d prefer.”
Emma didn’t really want to play the game now that she knew she would lose but she wasn’t sure if Regina really wanted to watch a movie so she stayed silent for a bit just enjoying being in Regina’s arms for now. “Maybe a movie?” she finally said and reluctantly moved to look into her eyes “and we can get all the blankets and popcorn or whatever you want and snuggle up?” Emma got more excited about the idea as she spoke and only hoped that Regina was excited as she was.
Regina grinned at the way Emma’s eyes lit up as she listed everything and nodded. “We can get all the pillows and blankets in the house and move the coffee table and make a nice cozy little pillow den like we used to when you were younger. We can make a night out of it.” she grinned and pulled her Daughter into a deep hug, kissing her head again before letting go. “Clear out the board and get the junk food, I’ll get the blankets and pillows.”
Regina smiled endearingly at the blonde and nodded. “I know, my darling. And the happy little look on your face is part of the reason I let you get away with it all these years. But you’re all grown up now, perhaps you should learn how to play the game properly. Not for the sake of the game, but it requires using certain tactics which you’ll find very useful in the real world, and I want to make sure you’ll be able to do so.” she said with a smile. Noticing the scared look in her eyes, Regina moved around the table to sit next to Emma and kiss her temple. “Don’t be so worried, dear, you aren’t in trouble.”
Emma felt herself relaxing slightly once Regina started speaking as she was nothing but nice towards her about the whole situation. “You mean you really don’t mind?” Emma asked and looked up at Regina who was now sitting next to her “I won’t cheat anymore, promise” she really didn’t mean it after being caught once she was not going to push her luck even if she was going to lose big time to Regina now “Should we start again?” Emma rested her head on Regina shoulder after she asked her question to indicate that she didn’t want her to move again.
Regina wrapped her arms around Emma and kissed her temple again. “I’m not in love with the idea of you cheating to get your way, dear, but it is just a game. I’d prefer if you tried the fair way from now on though.” she said gently as she rand the tips of her fingers through Emma’s golden locks. “If you want to, we can start over, or we can drop the game in favour of a movie if you’d prefer.”
A PSA ABOUT MEMES
send me them. i don’t care if you just started following five minutes ago, or if you’ve been following since the beginning of time. send as many as you want. if none of them work for our muses, that’s totally fine! but if you ever see something that might, by all means, literally HURL them my way. i love having my inbox spammed with things to answer, even if i don’t actually accomplish answering all of them. if i ever leave something you’ve sent unanswered, don’t let that throw you off from ever sending more! messages get eaten, or maybe i just couldn’t think of any way to properly reply to it. either way, if i reblog something, send to your heart’s desire. i mean it.
"Darling." Regina said, looking up from her chance card across the Monopoly board and over to her now 18 year old foster daughter with a quirk of her eyebrow. "It was absolutely adorable when you were ten, and every moment since that. But at eighteen years old, perhaps you should try to find a way to win Monopoly WITHOUT stealing money from the bank and shuffling the cards just right. It was very clever, but now it's lost it's tact, therefore, I would suggest a new one." - queenquexnmills
Emma had spent her whole life cheating at games without being caught and she had assumed she had continued to do so but unfortunately she had just found out that Regina had always knowing about her little cheat which scared her a little as she looked up towards her mother with unintentional puppy eyes “You know?” she looked down at her cards for a moment not sure how this situation would end “I-I’m so sorry I didn’t mean to- well of course I did but I am just used to it and I can’t help myself, it’s the only way I ever win these things” Emma finally stopped herself and she could feel her heart racing, in any other foster home she would have been shown the door straight away but for some reason Regina was different and she seemed to actually care which scared Emma more than anything but at the same time made her want to do right by her mother.
Regina smiled endearingly at the blonde and nodded. “I know, my darling. And the happy little look on your face is part of the reason I let you get away with it all these years. "I want to be sore." (Season 1 this time, maybe?)
Ms. Swan, I do truly fail to understand what you’re talking about. And what have I said about barging into my office like this?
Emma was sitting with elbow on the dest and two fingers pressed to the temple, reading fora third time one page of the paperwork she had to do. Her thoughts were so much louder though..
She jumped softly in surprise. She didn’t hear Regina coming in. She looked at the brunette and her lips parted. “I uh…” She cleared her throat. “Yeah. Sure.” Emma said no so sure what to expect. She got up and crossing hands across the chest she leaned against the side of the desk.
Regina took a deep breath before she spoke nervous thanks to what had happened the night before. “First of all, I think I owe you an apology. My behaviour last night was far from appropriate. I’m sorry.” She looked up at Emma, waiting for her reaction before she could continue.
The apology was definitely something she didn’t expect from Regina. It made her speechless for a moment and while the Mayor clearly waited for some kind of response she needed to think quickly what to say. “I uhh—- Well… I guess I should apologize myself. I knew you were… Not yourself and yet I came. I couldn’t say no. I’m sorry for that.” A spark of hope showed in her heart. Maybe there was a chance for them to stop fighting and become more civil than ever before..
Regina nodded. “Apology accepted. Though there isn’t much need for one. From what I remember I was quite insistent and didn’t really leave you much of a choice.” she swallowed and sighed “I bet you’re wondering what all that even was last night.”
Emma simply nodded her head. “I am…” She said and ran fingers through her hair nervously. A lot of happened yesterday night does she had problem with understanding. “That it change anything? Whatever it was… Look… I would really like to know where we are standing.”
“I suppose it’s really rather complicated.” Regina said bluntly. “But I’ve come to find that most things involving you are just that. Strange, and very complicated.” she sighed and wondered if she should just be truthful to Emma about her feelings, but then she remembered what the blonde had said the day before and she shook her head. “When I shared my concerns over henry finding out about us, you implied that he wouldn’t have to, as the only kind of relationship we’d have would be purely physical...And...Despite what may have happened last night. That’s not what I want. Last night was...a mistake in my judgement.”
