you know what today i’ve decided to arbitrarily die on the hill that the palpatine/yoda fight in revenge of the sith is awesome. Because even if it “looks bad” and “yoda should be a wise sage and not be doing flips” I think its very funny. It’s a little green frog guy and an old man trying desperately to murder each other and in-universe it would be like if joe biden and the pope had a death brawl in the middle of congress where they threw all the chairs at each other

When I was in college, my Stage Craft teacher showed us this.  Basically the machine heats up a sheet of plastic, and once it’s malleable enough it’ll be blown up to make room for whatever you want to imprint in the plastic.  Once it’s in place, the air reverses and the plastic vacuum-sucks all around the object.  

He demonstrated it on a baby doll and it was like a baby had been frozen in carbonite.  I got to take it home and I still have frozen-carbonite-baby to this day (his name is Franklin XD)

Ok what if.

What if one day Jaskier, in that lighthearted way of his, refers to himself as a damsel in distress and to Geralt as his knight in shiny dirty armour.

And he notices a frown, an unexpected flicker of emotion on Geralt's face.

And he doesn't let go until Geralt tells him what's wrong, what's on his mind.

And eventually Geralt relents and tells him wistfully that when he was a kid he wanted to become a knight when he grew up. It's one of the few things he remembers from his time before Kaer Morhen, really (besides his mother's face, but he won't talk about her), that innocent, childhood dream of becoming a knight one day.

And Jaskier looks at him like he's lost his mind and tells him, you fool, of course you are. Maybe not technically, not in name, but in every way that counts, of course you are.

He literally spends his life saving princesses, and slaying monsters and fighting against evil, and protecting the weak and the innocent and those who can't protect themselves, who else does he think he is if not a knight?

My favorite thing in the world is media that predates the internet (or just predates fandom's debut into larger consciousness) and has two distinct and discrete branches of fans, one that post youtube comments like "back before everything was WOKE, before they RUINED IT, when MEN were men", and another that regularly uses the Explicit tag on AO3. I wish I could get them in the same room together. Very much a monkey's paw wish "Why don't young people watch the shows I like?" well they do but ah...
