I need to have a gay rant.
I didn't ever consider women as an option like that, but when I did I calmed down about dating.
Ive never had an obvious crush on a girl. I've dated guys and lost interest very fast. I now realize I liked the feeling of being wanted, but not the person I was with.
I listen to my sister talk about her boyfriend and am icked out by that. He is a nice guy, and I love that for her, but imagining that gives me the ick
Most of my friends are gay and or queer. I wasn't really like them. I went to church and got all of my ideas abotu attraction and political stuff and sexuality from my VERY CONSERVATIVE father..
I didn't really relate to gay characters in media because I didn't know that yet.
All of the things people talk about for "how they knew" dont fit and I feel crazy.
But, I've focused on women in shows and planned to stay single because I didn't want to be with a guy. Looking back, I've had a different kind of closeness with my female friends over my male friends. More. Something I couldn't place. Then I held a girl's hand at school. I got chills. Electric. Strange. Confusing.

I think some very general advice is that sexuality is fluid and complicated and something that everyone experiences in different ways. Lots of people don’t label their sexuality or gender for tons of different reasons. And even if you do choose a label for your sexuality like lesbian there’s no one way to be a lesbian.
