Vox's relentless need for advancement, his habit of always looking toward the future, always keeping up with the latest trends, and mutilating his own body to remain palatable to modern audiences is such a brilliant writing choice when we consider the fact that most sharks, including the great whites, are physically incapable of stopping. They have to swim and be constantly on the move, otherwise they'd stop breathing and die. Yet, for all of Vox's coldness, he is so stuck in the past that eventually it drove him to self-destruction.
