Denial/Hope..?

1 week later and I'm still in the denial stage of grief... Satan's cryptic line 'Lets not, and say we did...' combined with the arrival of my 'O Crowley Night' snowglobe, and the fact that the official store will be getting Xmas jumpers made me think.. could we be getting a one off holiday special??

Didn't Rachel Talay do the Dr Who Xmas specials with DT?!

Odd to drop holiday specific merch months before AND after the show (which wasn't set around Christmas) ends..

(of course this could also just a casualty of the restructure and the full 6 episodes were meant to come out ~Dec '25 and feature some holiday shenanigans. Who knows. 😮‍💨)

GO3 Finale

"You start thinking: it can't be a great cosmic game of chess, it has to be just very complicated Solitaire." - part of the famous monologue from the novel, contemplating why an all-powerful creator would place forbidden fruit in front of inquisitive people...

The point is (ssssma' point!) the game was rigged against us from the beginning. Crowley knew this all along. And at the bookshop at the end of the world, there was only one move left to play, by the only player actually playing.

For everyone lamenting the loss of the world we knew and loved- there was only ever one outcome: all the cards go ppppffftt!

But Crowley and Aziraphale made it so that humanity wasn't stuck in a game they couldn't win anymore. A bittersweet ending.

(and yes, I'm gutted they apparently lost their memories. But stubbornly believing the theory that one of the new universes/snowglobes is home to OUR Crowley and Aziraphale 🥰. Just like I'm stubbornly believing that Jayvik were teleported to their own cottage. But seriously. Stop disintegrating my queers. My determined optimism/delusion is stretched as far as it can go. 😅)

well apparently everyone else hates it. i do not. i love it. i love what they did with it, i love that crowley got to choose, i love that he chose humanity, that he did not choose to run away.

because THAT is who he is. he loves his stars and creations, he loves humanity, he loves the messiness, the good and the bad, the ugly and the beautiful, he loves watching them. he showed jesus all the kingdoms of the world to share that love with someone who he knows already felt it.

in the end, they made that choice together. it's a choice they have made before, over and over, saving humanity over themselves. no god, no angels, no demons, no thousands of years of suffering for all the millions of eternal beings.

personally, i choose to believe that god's last gift to them was integrating them into the fabric of the new universe, so they will find each other in every lifetime. but without anyone watching, without any plan behind it, without senseless suffering, without creating stars just to destroy them.

just the two of them, together, always.

Please read it…for me, it is the biggest Easter egg there ever was in GO…they are sitting in the Garden of Eden, surrounded by the new universes, with Champagne in their glasses (to the world - to our world/worlds), with the apple still intact and without wings…they did it. They gave them their ending as an „us“…hidden, but there. And I love it…🥹

GO3 theory...

This line struck me as odd on my first watch. I thought it seemed clunky, out of place, and I didn't understand the context. (I was still reeling from the scene just before!) Possibly it was a casualty of the short runtime and harsh editing requirements.. BUT. With a limited runtime, surely you would choose to just cut a line that doesn't add anything to the story? (Notwithstanding Misty, Harry the Fish etc...)

So I thought about the context.. Job. Lucifer is telling God that he was in on Crowley's plan to not kill Job's kids, and just "say we did." Both God and Lucifer said they were going to kill Job's children, then didn't, but pretended they did.

God said she would erase Crowley and Aziraphale. But they're her favourites. So she's pretending. And that's why they get their round 2.

There's something also about the fact that we see the bookshop-snowglobe in their garden; the last place in the universe that existed. I'm choosing to believe this, and that they have/will get their memories back. 🥰

GO hot take apparently

Imagine finding out you have 90 minutes to tie up a love story that's developed over thousands of years. You create something beautifully in character and completely on point for the plot. You pay homage to the original writer's legacy in a fitting and poetic way and create an ending that not only shows the depth of two people's love for each other but the wider love they have for the thing that brought them together in the first place.

And then you go online to find the loudest outcry is that everyone hates it and "THEY DIDN'T EVEN KISS!"

I feel sorry for people who didn't get anything out of that stunning finale.

I laughed, I cried. Honestly, it was so much better than what I was bracing myself for! So grateful to have gotten any ending. Even more grateful that it's an ending I loved. ❤️ So excited to rewatch and start dissecting the details!
