I've always been in love with the beautiful artwork of WHA, and Kamome Shirahama's masterful line work has been a huge inspiration for me! I did my best to recapture the grandeur and magic in this piece. Super excited for the finale next week!!
with (for now) no limit on slots, i will be taking requests for: regional variants, evolutions/pre-evolutions/divergent and convergent evos, and megas/dynamax forms of existing pokemon! *pwyw, minimum 5 usd. depending on what you want, i will need concepts you want me to enact, typing, and/or region for your request— if not provided, i’ll fill in the blanks. for 10 usd minimum, i will also draw unaltered existing pokemon doing something silly (chef’s choice) OR an entirely new fakemon provided type and concept! depending on price and if the concept particularly strikes me quality will vary between above and maybe something more tastily rendered. i will also write up a pokédex entry, sample at the end of this post.

GALARIAN TORKOAL (FIRE/POISON):
IT IS SAID THE FIRST GALARIAN TORKOAL WAS TRANSFORMED BY A WITCH IN NEED OF BOTH A CAULDRON AND A FLAME TO LIGHT IT. IT IS EQUALLY RUMORED THE WITCH WAS A GALARIAN SLOWKING, AND EVEN THAT THE TORKOAL WAS PUNISHED FOR INTRUDING UPON THE SORCERER’S LAIR. OF COURSE, A MORE GROUNDED BIOLOGICAL HYPOTHESIS EXISTS— THAT TORKOAL, HAVING MIGRATED TO GALAR AND STRANDED BY CHANGES IN CLIMATE OR LANDMASS, WERE FORCED TO ADAPT RAPIDLY TO A DIFFERENT DIET. THEIR BODIES BECAME CRUCIBLES IN WHICH TO BREAK DOWN HARMFUL COMPOUNDS, BOTH FOR DIGESTION AND SELF-DEFENSE, THE FLAME WITHIN THEIR SHELL REQUIRED FOR THE PROCESS. OF COURSE, THIS DOES FAIL TO ACCOUNT FOR THE SYMBOL ON TORKOAL’S HEAD AND THE FORMATION OF WHAT APPEAR TO BE HANDLES ON ITS SHELL.
THESE TORKOAL CAN CONSUME ALMOST ANYTHING, AS LONG IT CAN BE MELTED OR BURNED BY THEIR FIRE. THEIR BODIES ABSORB NEEDED NUTRIENTS, AND THE REMAINDER BECOMES INCREDIBLY CAUSTIC AND VOLATILE. THE CHEMICAL MAKEUP OF EVERY TORKOAL IS DIFFERENT, AND RECENT RESEARCH INDICATES THEY GO TO GREAT PAINS TO MAINTAIN IT TO THEIR LIKING, TRAVELING FAR FOR A SPECIFIC FRUIT, BARK OF TREE, ORE, OR OTHER SUBSTANCE TO ADD TO THEIR BREW. GALARIAN TORKOAL EMIT FIRE FROM UNDERNEATH THEIR SHELL, AND SEEMINGLY INCREASE ITS HEAT AND SIZE USING THE SIGIL ON THEIR HEAD. WHEN INERT OR LUKEWARM, TORKOAL HAS A CALM DEMEANOR, SOMETIMES APPEARING EVEN COMATOSE, BUT TURNING ITS FIRE ALL THE WAY UP MAKES IT EQUALLY VOLATILE, PRONE TO VIOLENT ERUPTION BOTH IN ANGER AND JOY. TO ATTACK, IT USES FLAME, NOXIOUS SMOKE, AND, IF THE ENEMY IS PARTICULARLY UNFORTUNATE, THE POISON ITSELF, WHICH IT TIPS OUT OF ITS CAULDRON BY PULLING ON THE HANDLES TO STAND UP.
REGARDLESS OF ORIGIN, TORKOAL HAS INDEED SERVED MANY OTHER POKEMON AND HUMANS WITH ITS CAULDRON AND FIRE. IF TRAINED FROM A YOUNG AGE AND FED ON CERTAIN MATERIALS, A GALARIAN TORKOAL CAN CARRY AND BOIL ALMOST ANYTHING IN ITS SHELL, THOUGH IT WILL RAPIDLY GROW ILL IF IT GOES FOR TOO LONG WITHOUT INGESTING ANYTHING TOXIC OR HARMFUL. THE MODERN GALARIAN TORKOAL HAS BEEN KNOWN TO RESIDE IN KITCHENS, LABORATORIES, FORGES, TEA SHOPS, AND EVEN HOT SPRINGS— ANYWHERE IT CAN FEED AND BURN. SOME DESCRIBE IT AS THE PERFECT COMPANION POKEMON, THOUGH IT IS ADVISED FOR SMALL CHILDREN OR YOUNG AND RAMBUNCTIOUS POKEMON TO KEEP AWAY, AS IT CAN BECOME STARTLED OR IRATE IF ITS SIGIL IS SUDDENLY TOUCHED, CAUSING ITS FLAME TO ERUPT.
i named myself after my first dnd character, who was a water elf sorcerer named Quilathea. I was like 12, and i made the name by smashing together some of the suggested elf names in the 5e phb. Anyway, im transmasc and Quilathea is too femme for my tastes, and I didn't really have a standard way of spelling her name, so I named myself Quillith.
thats a really convoluted backstory, and i don't even go by Quillith most people call me quinn, so i didnt think anyone else would be called that, so i google searched it, and low and behold, you're Quillith too so i wanted to tell you that :P

I have an important update to this post, for any who enjoyed this drawing, I finally got the opportunity to scan it and I just had to share the scanned versions of it here because it captured the colours astoundingly better than my original photos taken with my phone camera 😅
