Kyle smiled wider if it was possible.. The Daegu boy chuckled. “Well what are we doing waiting around, lets go!” he started to skip towards his car, excited to finally eat. He stayed up all night but didn’t eat. So he was getting his favorite food with a friend. He walked up to his little blue ford focus an unlocked it.

the other is fast and full of energy and being around him almost exhausts roman. but -- he won’t complain. he’s getting food now and he follows behind the other, slower than he, but they’ll deal. “cute car,” he states, a shy smile on his face. “uh -- what did you say your name was again??”

his fingers curled around the strap of his messenger bag as he leaned a bit on the table. “it’s pretty cool, depending on the group of students in the class,” he offered with a small laugh, “i teach university though so there’s a good mixture of heavily involved, sort of involved, and not involved at all people.” even on a bad day clyde didn’t see himself doing anything else. his eyes widened hearing the other’s offer, he hadn’t been expecting anything like this, though it did make his smile a slight bit wider. “that would be really nice, but are you sure ? i really wouldn’t want to impose. but some grading help would be nice, i have some exams and an answer key so it wouldn’t be too difficult. but only if you’re sure ? sometimes time seems to drag when i do it, wouldn’t want to put that on you.”

“shit -- that’s... sweet. what do you teach??” curiosity will definitely get the best of them but, oh well. roman could wait to see the other’s paper’s to grade, but oh well, they want to know now. it’s nice to hear about someone’s passion but - if roman could read his thoughts, they’d agree: about their photography, about their graphic design, about their art. it may not make a lot of money but they’re happy and they love what they do. they want to finish college, though. get a degree. use their art in something more important, like teaching people, like a business. “yeah!!” his voice brought them back to reality. “i’m sure. i mentioned i bought too much, right??” a pause, brows furrowing as they racked their brain. “i don’t care. i’m kind of nosy, so it’ll be fun. student teacher confidentially though, right??” they gave the other a cheeky smile, then added, “i even have my own fancy pens. -- you wanna go get your stuff and i’ll start on dinner??””

“so you do think i look pretty.” it’s not exactly what they’ve said but cc likes to read between the lines. he can hear a sense of wistfulness in their tone of voice and deliberately mistakes it for awe. he can be quite impressive, can’t he? “i’ll tell you, it is quite the glamorous existence, but it’s one well earned. i didn’t just wake up rich and influential.” as someone who is decades older than he appears, cc often finds himself inclined to give long winded speeches about how hard he’s worked and how he used to walk uphill to school every day. must be a generational thing. this time, like every other time before it, he’s able to squash those urges. the less people know about his struggles the better. somehow, he’s made them laugh when he hasn’t even said anything funny. perhaps his next future career is to be a comedian. “you’re in the wrong profession; you should be writing cheesy hallmark cards and scripting those dime a dozen movies with the corny happy endings. there’s nothing more special about today than there is any other day – not for her, nor for anyone involved. if anything, she’s just making a rash decision that’s going to become a source of conflict at some point in her now shortened life.” he pauses, trying to pick out the ‘happy couple’ in the crowd. “that is if they are soulmates or whatever.” even just saying the word aloud makes him feel ill and he waves a hand as if to physically brush it away. “i guess so long as you aren’t here to bug me, i’ll try to share my prime location with you.”

“eh -- i wouldn’t go that far,” they teased, taking note of how they were sure they were annoyed with this person earlier but is now relaxed and laughing at what they’ve got to say, joking as if they haven’t just met. he’s awful charming, isn’t he?? “you’re,” a pause as their eyes trailed up and down the other’s figure, making a face that says ‘i’m thinking’. "--okay. probably my type but don’t get flattered. everyone’s my type. i’d be flirting with the bride right now if i didn’t know any better.” the smile is back and their brushing their hair out of their face, letting out a dramatic sigh. “oh, damn. what a shame. -- are you sure that you didn’t just wake up and have trillions and millions of dollars in your bank account??” if roman knew the stranger’s struggles, how old he really is, how he’s been through all that, they’d definitely have a bunch of questions. ones probably dumber than the one asked earlier. they didn’t ask for his opinion on this whole wedding, but here he was, going the fuck off and surprisingly, roman supports it. “well, if you don’t -- wait. why are you telling me to make hallmark card if i just told you i’d be flirting with he bride if i could??” a chuckle, then they continued. “well, if they’re not soulmates but in love enough to get married they can spend forever together or -- break up after eighty years, still be hot, then go off and find their other half. -- but anyways. if you don’t think it’s important, why are you here??” although he said if you don’t bug me, roman is probably doing just that.

some people believe that pets are just like their owners. it would make sense if that were the case; given, these animals spend the most amount of time with their caretakers. it would only be logical. however, benjamin and his cat prickles were not blessed with such luck. the two were total opposites. from their stance on food, the way they interact with strangers, and their willingness to explore. prickles was one rambunctious cat, and benjamin took her on multiple walks a week to keep the peace. but it seemed, prickles was sick of waiting. prickles had run off.

muttering a fine mess of expletives, benjamin (still dressed in his pjs) raced down the fire escape where prickles must have escaped from, leading to the sidewalk out the front of his apartment building. his eyes darted around frantically, benjamin struggled to put two thoughts together as he began walking briskly down the sidewalk. “prickles ? prickles, i’m not okay with this reenactment of that spongebob episode where gary goes missing. prickles, where are you ??”

roman was minding their business, going on  walk to the library to return some books and check out some movies, but then all of a sudden, while they’re walking, they feel something snake itself in between their legs and rub itself on their pants. roman, thinking the worse, was getting ready to fight but when they glanced down to see a cat, their expression immediately changed. they stopped what they were doing, immediately forgot all about the library, and bent down to shower the cat, who chose them, with affection.

long fingers move their way in between ears, behind them, then down the body of the cat and roman swears to got they’re about to stuff this cat in their bag and go home with it. but then their fingers catch on something hard and fabric and they realize -- the cat who chose them had a collar. they fumbled around, squinted, and read the name prickles. they scoffed. “what an ugly name for someone as pretty as you.” and there they were, showering the cat in affection. they’d call the number on the collar eventually but -- oh. was that someone calling for the name prickles?? sighing, they assume the worst: a stressed out owner who lost their kitten. before the cat can run off, roman sweeps her up in their arms and when they’re not greeted by scratching and hissing, they have half a mind to run away with the cat and pretend they’ve never met a prickles in their entire life.

however, roman remembered how desperate the voice sounded and realized how desperate they’d be if their cat had run off. so, they turned and marched ((unwillingly)) to the sound of the voice. “hey,” they start off. awkward, huh?? roman would be pissed if they saw a stranger holding their cat. “-----i think i found your cat.”

micah can usually have a conversation with anyone and keep it going without being too awkward himself, yet roman seemed to be an exception to that rule. for good reason, though, all things considered. micah’s fully aware of that even if it’s a shame. “oh, like pollen and grass and stuff like that? gotcha… that sucks.” he said genuinely, although he was definitely worried it didn’t sound like it. 

“yeah, stuff like that.” they paused, knowing that things were awkward between the two. they’re too... tired to keep up the facade. roman doesn’t have him, no. but they’re just petty, bitter, tired. they shouldn’t be upset over something that happened so long ago, but still, here they are: annoyed and angry. but still - roman is too tired to keep it up. “do you have any allergies??”

“you’re supposed to clean your face so they don’t clog your pores. um -- some of them clean your skin or exfoliate or moisturize. they work, yeah. i don’t use them daily. just to relax.”

“you’re welcome,” he responded with a nod of his head. clyde knew the dilemma of whether to struggle to avoid anyone catching a glimpse of his possible scattered apartment or deciding the mess was manageable. he took the bags from his neighbor and followed them inside, fighting the urge not to look around a lot, not wanting to come off as nosy. he set the bags down as where he was instructed before taken a step back. “i reckon your place is much neater than mine, i’ve got numerous exams to grade and unfortunately i’m not always so tidy,” he spoke with a polite smile gracing his lips.

whenever all their bags were set down, roman rubbed his brow bone, then placed their hands on their lower back, leaning every other which way to pop their back. “oh, shit,” a pause. maybe they shouldn’t curse in front of a teacher. “huh, you teach?? that’s cool. i’ve always wanted to do that.” there was a shy smile on their face. it’s weird to have someone in their space, but here they are, hands on their hips, an awkward gaze being thrown at the other. his smile made their’s spread, though. this situation was weird but at least he’s being nice. “well -- since you helped and all, wanna stay for dinner?? it’s the least i can do. i probably bought too much but, uh, you can bring your papers over. i can -- help. if i can, that is.”

nathan laughed again, nodding. roman had a tendency to ramble and then cut themselves off abruptly, though the question as to why they always did that was a little beyond nathan at this point. “google maps is our best friend, i guess! are we driving?”

“google maps?? who do you think i am?? an android user??” there’s a goofy smile on their face, their shoulders shrugging. “i don’t drive. but if you do, then yeah. -- but i don’t mind walking.”

clyde shook his thoughts clear as he heard the words, seeing the other was struggling and internally cursing at himself for not noticing before. “oh, yeah of course, sorry,” he adjusted his own bag on his shoulder before moving to take the keys from them. he unlocked the door and even opened it for them so they wouldn’t have to. “would you like me to take something off your hands ? help you inside or anything ?”

“it’s -- fine,” they don’t know why they’re reacting this way, it’s not really that big of a deal, roman has gone through worse. “thank you,” they gave their neighbor a tight lipped smile and their face was flushed and instead of being their stubborn self, they took a quick peek in their apartment and decided they didn’t care if they had a messy living room and company over. “yeah. that’d be great.” they offered an armful of bags to the other and quickly stepped inside. “if you could set them over here,” they gestured to the island they were walking too, “that’d be great.”

“the options to answer that question are endless,” he mused turning his attention to the voice. “if you narrow down the subject matter i’ll gladly give it a go.”

usually they’d tease back with their neighbor but right now -- they’re desperate. “um, can you -- just,” they cleared their throat awkwardly, arms fulled with grocery bags. “this is gonna be weird but can you grab my keys and unlock my door for me??”

“oh, um…” micah hummed while looking around the room for something, surely he could be at least a little useful, “here ‘ya go,” he replied while grabbing a box of tissues from the table behind him, “what are you, like… allergic to?” might be an odd question, but he was genuinely just curious. 

roman should just take micah’s sleeve and full on blow his nose into it just for the hell of it, just because he’s still...bitter about everything that happened, but -- oh well, he’s just being petty and this is just an impulse. even if he is being an asshole, he gratefully takes the tissues and immediately blows his nose, letting out a heavy sigh out of his mouth. he’s a mouth breather now and he hates it. “it’s just... allergies. like the wind can blow the wrong way and i can use the ability to breathe out of my nose.”
