“Do you love me enough that I may be weak with you? Everyone loves strength, but do you love me for my weakness? That is the real test.”
— Alain de Botton, Essays in Love
You must treasure yourself. Respect yourself. Support yourself through thick and thin. You are such a gift to this world, my friend. We are all so blessed to have you here. -na

But then...it used to be so simple, once upon a time.
Because the universe was full of ignorance all around and the scientist panned through it like a prospector crouched over a mountain stream, looking for the gold of knowledge among the gravel of unreason, the sand of certainty and the little whiskery eight-legged swimming things of superstition.
[...] But the trouble was that ignorance became more interesting, especially big fascinating ignorances about huge and important things like matter and creation, and people stopped patiently building their little houses of rational sticks and started getting interested in the chaos itself -- partly because it was a lot easier to be an expert on chaos, but mostly because it made really good patterns that you could put on a t-shirt.
Terry Pratchett, Witches Abroad
And it all meant this: that there are hardly any excesses of the most crazed psychopath that cannot easily be duplicated by a normal, kindly family man who just comes in to work every day and has a job to do.
Vorbis loved knowing that. A man who knew that, knew everything he needed to know about people.
Terry Pratchett, Small Gods
Anger helped Vimes up the last leg of the climb. Anger at himself and whoever it was who had punctured his holiday. But it was worrying: he had wanted something to happen and now it had. Somebody was dead. Sometimes you had to take a look at yourself and then look away.
Terry Pratchett, Snuff
I like this “best of” compilation
I kept as still as I could. Nothing happened. I did not expect anything to happen. I was something that lay under the sun and felt it, like the pumpkins, and I did not want to be anything more. I was entirely happy. Perhaps we feel like that when we die and become a part of something entire, whether it is sun and air, or goodness and knowledge. At any rate, that is happiness; to be dissolved into something complete and great. When it comes to one, it comes as naturally as sleep.
Willa Cather
He finished tying up the wires and tucked them into the magnetic sling.
"That should do it!" He climbed backward down the pole and landed firmly on the ground.
I squinted skeptically.
"It looks like shite, everyone who sees it is gonna be hella suspicious."
"Who fuckin care eh? We been long gone by then." He rubbed the pole-tar off his hands chuckling.
"IF it fuckin works meng..." I shook my head.
"You will see eh? THEY will ALL see!"
artists fuck better because we turn sex into art, masterpieces, mattresses become canvases where we can paint our love to someone with bodies.
its like, impossible to come up with anything funnier than the experience of seeing this post

Y’all be saying “world heritage post” to anything but this is actually what a a UNESCO world heritage post looks like
'Janet's Foss' Woodland Glade, Falls, Pool and Cave, Gordale Scar, Malham, Yorkshire Dales Country Park.
'Foss' is an old Scandinavian word for 'Waterfall' and this site has strong Norse links. It is thought that this place was considered sacred and the cave and the grotto behind the falls carry several tales of magic.
Another cover to James P. Hogan’s ‘Inherit the Stars’ for Space Skeleton Saturday, by Darrell K. Sweet for the 1977 first edition.
This era of sci-fi covers tended to focus more on machinery and landscapes than on human figures, but Sweet always bucked that trend with his dynamic characterization: All three figures on this cover carry their emotions in their body language, even the one who’s been dead for 50,000 years.

In the spirit of High Weirdness, this review will try to weave an impressionistic, magical spell exploring the commonalities Davis unveils between the respective life's work and esoteric, drug-aided explorations of Terence McKenna, Robert Anton Wilson, and Philip K. Dick...
