Jiraiya turned around and couldn’t help but notice a strangely-dressed but lovely young lady behind him.
Jiraiya quickly regained his composure before saying in an attempted suave voice, “Why hello there, lovely young lady. How can I help you?”
Usagi jumped back a couple of feet, surprised by the pervy old man before her.
“Whoa! Who are you?! Why are you here?! Don’t tell me this Isiah guy called you too?”
“Isiah? Who the hell is Isiah?” Jiraiya asked looking even more confused than he did when he woke up. Jiraiya was even surprised he was in this world. “My name is Jiraiya. I’m from Konoha,” Jiraiya introduced himself with a smile, “Who are you, young lady?”
He stood tall and confident, hoping his charm would help calm her down and help him get some answers.
Usagi’s body became less tense as her confusion set in. She was just as lost as him by the looks of it. One moment she was with her friends and Mamoru in Tokyo and then in the blink of an eye she was in this world. It was all very confusing.
“My name is Tsukino Usagi. I’m from Tokyo. I have no idea where Konaha is, is that somewhere in Osaka?” Usagi tapped her chin as she thought.
“Isiah is this guy I met here. He said he was a prophet. He told me that he has to gather a group of people to fight a giant evil force. That’s probably why I’m here. I wonder if he’s talking about the Negaverse?”
“Ah, well since we’re in the same boat! It’s nice to meet cha!”
“First question: What’s Osaka? Konoha is a hidden village in the Land of Fire. It is one of the Five Great Shinobi Countries. Don’t you know your geography?” Jiraiya asked. Jiraiya was even more confused then ever, but this was only the tip of the iceberg.
“Second: a prophet? Like a person who sees the future? This Isiah must be one hell of a chakra master to do that. And finally: the Negaverse? Since when did Akatsuki change their name to that?” Jiraiya concluded his list of questions but he started to realize that he was being rude. “Umm sorry Miss Usagi. It’s just last I checked, I was killed by this shinobi who goes by the name Pain,” Jiraiya said apologetically, “In fact, I’m surprised my body is completely healed from that battle. This Isiah must be quite the healer too.” Jiraiya was hoping that meeting another person would help him find answers, instead he wound up with more questions. Although, he didn’t mind hanging out with this Tsukino. She was quite a lovely girl.
Did this guy just say something about a hidden village? Land of Fire?
“Uh, Osaka is a part of Japan. I should be asking you about your geography, bub. Are you sure you haven’t been playing too many games down at the arcade? There aren’t any shinobi where I’m from.”
“I have no idea what chakra is either, it sounds like a food though. Speaking of which, I’m pretty hungry.” Usagi frowned as she placed her hand over her stomach.
“But, I’m pretty sure this Isiah guy is the real deal. There are worlds all over the universe, he’s just from a different one than you and I. Besides, I’m pretty sure this evil he’s talking about is real. I can feel it deep in my heart. I don’t know who this Akatsuki is that you’re talking about, but if they’re anything like the people from the Negaverse than they’re bad news. They must have something to do with this evil power.”
“As for your death…” Usagi was quiet for a moment.
“I’ve died before, but something has brought me back. The universe must need you, don’t question its reasons. You have another chance to fight for the ones you love, for the good of the world. That’s all you really need to know.”
“I know this is a lot to take in, but it’s the truth. We’re needed for a great battle between good and evil. I’m sure we can get more answers if we go find Isiah again. So, why don’t we work together and become friends? Deal?”
Once Jiraiya absorbed everything Tsukino said, he realized that she mentioned worlds all over the universe. Suddenly, things started to make sense. Tsukino was from a world where she lived in this country called Japan while Jiraiya was from a world where there were shinobi countries, but he felt he should explain chakra to her anyways. “Chakra is a shinobi’s inner strength, the mix of his or ehr physical and spiritual strength. It’s needed to perform battle techniques such as this,” Jiraiya explained as he prepared a Rasengan.
He made it disappear as he continued to say, “And I guess since I’m needed in this world, I’ll team up with you to find this Isiah. And as for some food…I’m hungry too. Is there a ramen shop somewhere?”
Usagi watched in awe as the man conjured a swirling blue mass of energy into his hand. She began to wonder just where he had come from to show such a great display of power.
"Um, I don't know about a ramen shop, but I could go for something sweet. Anyways, we should probably explore this place a little. Who knows how long we'll be stuck here...?"
It hit Usagi then that she didn't know how long she would be without her friends and Mamoru. She clutched at her heart for a moment. She had to be strong. She was doing this to save her world and the people she loved. She would be back with them soon enough and they would all be safe.
"Yeah. Let's go check out what's here."
