Day 104 in Dublin and New York
This morning I got up at 4...and I tried and I tried and I tried to sleep but it just wasn't happening. I looked at my phone, read my boyfriend's story and waited for it to be time up go. My roommate's one direction alarm went off 3 times before she finally got up. We both got dressed and packed pjs. Then we took out the trash before lugging our disgustingly heavy bags into the elevator. Final count: 16 lbs backpack, 25 lbs duffel and 60 lbs suitcase. We were one of the first on the bus and ready to go. Eventually everyone got to the bus and we only left 10 minutes late. But the bus parked in the farrrrrr away lot. Ugh. Lugging all my crap hurt soooooo much. I knew if be sore for days because of this. Printed my ticket and got in line for baggage check. I thought that it was a bad omen the computer broke when the people before me were checking in. And I watched my roommate pay overweight fees and was anxious. I was over. I was very over and I knew it. But the guy slapped a heavy tag on my bag and said "merry Christmas"...$100 fee not paid as his gift to me. OMG I was walking on air after that Went through baggage and no pat down! Got to pre customs for America and besides needing to go over my declaration form in pen I was speed along. Great. I even got a sandwich. Everything was going my way. even got my bag into the overhead bin and a seat next to my favorite guy on the program who I'd talked to practically the entire flight here. It was great...until... The wind. 5 hours....5 hours...that was how long we waited on the runway and at the gate because the winds were too high for our plane. Literally rocked the whole aircraft back and forth on the ground. So 5 hour delay + 7 hour flight = lots of movies. Admission, We Are The Millers, The Way Way Back and Love Actually. That was my movie list. And talking and eating lots of the sympathy food they gave us. But at last we landed and I bolted. Stopped briefly to console my roommate whose flight was cancelled until morning. I felt so bad for her. But she told me to go. So I dragged my terrible carry on for ages to reach the baggage claim. I was near tears in pain. So long and my muscles felt so pained. Waited for one of the last bags off the carousel but I finally got it. Then it was time...all I'd wanted since the second I left. I walked out and looked around and there he was. I almost didn't recognize the boy holding the roses staring at me. I dragged all my bags towards him and hugged him in the most awkward way humanly possible. I had too many bags to function...but it was perfect. That awkward hug and kiss on the lips was perfect. Then I put my stuff down and I got a real hug and kiss. Oh I was I'm heaven. Then we walked into the blizzard outside and he carried my things. We got to the parking lot and kissed. It's like there's no way I can make up 3.5 months of affection soon enough. We loaded the car and he gave me this beautiful silver locket with a black diamond and our photos inside. I almost cried. It was everything I could've wanted. So happy. Then we drove home painfully in the treacherous snow. But I just set in disbelief that I made it. Home. With my love. Couldn't feel happier. Got to my house and my mom had dinner and pumpkin pie ready. She was overjoyed to see me. And my dog is perfect. And then my dad and brother came home and I distributed gifts and chocolate. After lots of family bonding, my boyfriend and I just snuggled. I forgot how perfect it felt to be held. I was so happy. I fell asleep like that (even though I'm supposed to sleep in a different room when he visits). Very long day at the end of a very wonderful and adventurous trip...perfect. Honestly these 104 days have been some of the greatest memories of my entire life. I feel so blessed for all of these opportunities and gifts in my life. I couldn't dream of anything better. And I'm home with the love of my life happy as anything.
