Hi everyone I just wanted to say even though I couldn’t attend the #blacklivesmatter protests today due to having to shield because of coronavirus vulnerability that I would be there walking with you if I could 😊This injustice and ignorance needs to stop!! It still shocks me that this is still happening centuries after the White Europeans invade Africa and decided to enslave Africans for there own personal gain!! Why after all this time does white privilege still dominated debate discriminate minorities because of patriarchy privilege and downright ignorance, I hope the events this week final give the ignorant a wake up to stand up and stand beside discriminations day racism once and for all. As far as I’m concerned we’re all human and as my mum always says we all come in the world the same, we all go out the world the same so why should we think we’re better than anyone else and keep hating each other for such stupid reasons. Hi everyone hope your all well and having a good week I’m sorry that I haven’t posted in a few days but I didn’t feel it was appropriate with everything going on in the world atm especially the George Floyd murder which quite frankly makes me feel sick to my stomach. As a history student who has done a fair bit of studying on slavery, how white invaders tried to conquer Africa and how they treated Africans. It shocks me that white men of privalidge and a position of power are still using that power to suppress and kill Africans some 200 or so years later have we not learnt anything from history that some people still think this behaviour is acceptable. Just because your in power it does not give you the right to hurt another human being because you have prejudice against them!! The images I have posted are of some of the programs and books I have read and watched that have helped me gain a deeper understanding of racism and it’s origins please take time to have a look at these if you have time!! Hi everyone happy Saturday hope your all doing well and staying safe😊 it’s day 30 of the #30minutesofmovementchallenge in aid of the @mentalhealthfoundation I can’t believe it’s the last day of the challenge it’s gone so quickly!! I’ve really loved doing this challenge and I hope that it’s helped to show the importance of looking after your mental health and a good part of it is looking after your physical health!! I think it’s shows just how connected they both are!! For the final exercise of the challenge I wanted to show some standing abs as this is how I do most of my ab exercises especially the upper abs as I suffer with acid reflux and doing crunches on the floor makes it worse!! Learning to adapt my workouts for this condition has been challenging and there was a point where I didn’t think I could workout again which was hard mentally but I’ve learnt to adapt my workouts and found new ways to exercise which I actually prefer to my old way of working out which included swappingh Hiit for dancing and I don’t miss hiit one bit!!! Thank you for following me on this challenge and I hope I’ve helped at least on if you to try and think of exercise and movement in particular as a good way of looking after your mental health especially during these crazy times!! Hi everyone happy Friday I hope your all doing well and looking forward to the weekend 😊it’s day 29 of the #30minutesofmovementchallenge in aid of the @mentalhealthfoundation which I’ll leave the link to donate below if you would like to 😊 to days movement was a country dance style power walk with @uptothebeatfit this was so fun to do and helped get my steps count up which I’m really trying to keep up with whilst stuck in isolation I think it’s really important to keep moving even whilst stuck at home as it’s really good for your immune system and as I found out today can improve your immunity even if you have a chronic medical condition because it helps reduce inflammation in the body which is a huge factor in the lowering of immunity combining this with a healthy diet rich in fruit,veg, lean meats, low fat dairy, healthy fats such as plant based oils, nuts and seeds and whole grains will help keep the body healthy during this difficult time and for the rest of your life 😊 so if you want any more tips and advice on keeping healthy during lockdown then please feel free to leave a comment and if you want to try the workout I’ll leave the link below. Hi everyone happy Sunday hope you’re all well it’s day 24 of the #30minutesofmovementchallenge in aid of the @mentalhealthfoundation and today was a stretch recovery day for me especially my shoulders which were feeling particularly sore after yesterday’s workout. Hi everyone happy Monday hope your all well 😊 it’s day 18 of the #30minutesofmovementchallenge in aid of the @mentalhealthfoundation who are part of the #mentalhealthawarenessweek which this year has a focus on kindness which I think is something we all need right now not just in giving kindness to others but in remembering to be kind to ourselves especially if we’re having a down day or week. This is why I did some yoga to help keep me calm today as I always find I have a better mental state if I remember to use the tools I’ve learnt over the years such as deep breathing, yoga, exercises, getting a good nights sleep and talking to someone when I need to in order to keep my mental health in check!! Hi everyone happy Sunday hope your all well and having a lovely weekend 😁 it’s day 17 of the #30minutesofmovementchallenge in aid of the @mentalhealthfoundation and today was a day for me to stretch and work on some of my favourite yoga poses specially backbends because they really help me to breath better and feel more open in my upper body I like this pose in particular because it not only opens my chest but more hip and quad as well and that’s what I love about yoga it’s about moving the body as one not just specific parts which I also think is true in looking after our mental and physical health one doesn’t work without the other which is why I always feel better mentally if I’ve moved physically please let me know if you agree with me!! I really like this dance routine because it allows you to express yourself and have fun so you don’t really feel like your doing a workout until you feel your muscles at the end especially your legs which I’m definitely feeling after this weeks workouts!!
