TRANSGENDER SIRENS IN BORDERLANDS WHEN??
Why are there no transmasc or intersex or transfem or enby sirens?
Someone please explain this to me.
You’re born in the wrong body, but you’re granted these incredible powers — and transitioning through hormones, as an example, doesn’t affect them...because your powers are resilient as FORK!! Think about it!!
Would that be possible? Is simply having a more male-leaning gender identity/pronouns/sex what makes someone ineligible to become a siren? And what about nonbinary sirens?
The lore says you have to be a “girl”... but what does that even mean? What do they mean by “girl"? (Granted, this piece of lore was created before LGBTQ+ representation became more mainstream for the game and the rest of Earth — but still, I digress.) Would a trans woman be able to be a siren? Or do you absolutely have to have XX chromosomes 100% of the time?? Do chromosomes even exist in the Borderlands universe, also since there are aliens involved? Gene pool is funky, yo! I bet the aliens' chromosomes are like aĕ³éräXỳæÆ...no offense! (Had to do it to em.)
Are the aliens in Borderlands all nonbinary btw, which, y'know, could mean the sirens also are — because of their Eridian connection? So maybe they’re not actually “girls” in the human sense at all? Huh!!!
Could sirens be intersex, or do they have to be strictly cis female with XX chromosomes at birth, "medically confirmed"? What if there's a mistake on the medical confirmation too, huh? What if the doctor got it wrong? Big talk here.
If a transgender man were a siren, he’d be the first-ever male siren too (Troy doesn't count) — and honestly, that would be so SWAG. I’d 100% support the idea of having trans sirens in the games, as well as more trans, intersex and nonbinary characters throughout the series — not only for representation, but also because Borderlands has always been a world without borders. It’s the perfect franchise to showcase inclusivity and diversity to its players and maintain the realism of a distant space utopia. (Cough cough, Call of Duty ain't got SHITE.)
What would the risk even be to have them included? Some transphobic gamers being unhappy? Politically-right-wing-infused-raging-bigotry-ishing backlash in Borderlands' Twitter comment sections? Hyperion stocks going down??
We have Lor (formerly Lorelei, nonbinary), who came out as a trans man in the New Tales from the Borderlands (even if that sequel was, uhhheermhm, not well-written at all, no love, no sauce...I won’t elaborate any further, it’s pretty obvious...cough cough. No one got attached to the characters. Rhys had a nice dumpy tho. Not the mini TFTBL1 robot, I mean his muffins, y'know? Bakery shop fresh! Huh!!? Who said that??!?).
So why can’t we have more enby, intersex and trans folks in the mainline Borderlands games, yo?
PS: Ayo...and where the flip are the Polyamorous characters, yo? Besides that one Maliwan gun, that doesn't count, even if you consider guns to have a soul. Did I skip that part of the whole story if there was anyone poly??? Everyone's monogamous?! I could go on for hours with these questions, yo!!! HELP!
PPS: I don't know if anyone else ever made a thread about this. I barely use Tumblr, RIP.
