Nevermind my pajama foot - I'm working on a cosplay with some EL wire for the first time, and I quite like it! The effect is subtle under lights and stands out very well in the dark. C:

Super fun day at Otakon! We managed to get dad dressed up as Grill Master 76 and people loved it
I really liked this picture from Otakon! Thanks @radiumexposure for taking it for me~
Another update on Mercy~ The front panel is so close to being done I can almost taste it. ;w; Just have to embroider a few details with the sewing machine! I pinned up the skirt blades for a peek. They sit at the perfect angles with that interfacing! Freaking loving this <3

Mercy update: We're kicking butt now! Final embroidery design is going down on the machine right now. The skirt blades are sewn and interfaced. They just need a front to attach to, which should be done by this evening~ The interfacing I used for the blades is miracle stuff I found at JoAnn's. It's called Stiffen2, and it's a thick double-sided iron on interfacing that gives your fabric a stiffness pretty similar to thin cardboard or posterboard. It made those things stiff enough to hold their shape while keeping them flexible for sitting and scampering. Love it! Recommend it. I think it was about three, maybe four dollars a yard.
Got a few more things patterned tonight; the caps on the shoulders, the seams on the sides, and a little work done on the shoulder section of the back. C: The goal is to have something wearable by the end of the week!
Okay! Let's DO STUFF The front white piece is finally patterned out. All I did was pin it to the sewing form and keep drawing outlines until it looked right. That final flat piece on the table is attempt #3. Winner! The skirt blades (??) were sized out of fabric first, then scrapped, then I couldn't find them when I realized I still needed them. So, cardboard templates it is! I'm trying to decide on craft foam with wire backing, or straight cardboard to help them remain stiff before they're covered in fabric. More on that later. Also you can totally pin cardboard to a sewing form if you need to. It will bend your pins though. (Do NOT tell my sister that I bent six of her pins doing this.)
Day 3 continues! Hereās the front yellow piece since I forgot to post it. And, the maiden voyage of test-embroidering the symbols on Mercyās upper sleeve/waist.
Mercy day 3! Let's ROCK I felt like starting with easier stuff this morning (that Saturday morning fog of finally sleeping in is following me), so I'm getting the long skirt pieces done to kick off the day. Just a big rectangle of yellow cotton each. I pressed the seams with an iron for fanciness. #verysexy #mysisterwouldbeproud
Mercy day 2, here we go! I decided to mount the sleeves and the rear skirt thing on to a solid piece beneath the white armor section. It sounded easier in theory, but we'll see how this goes... Found a good free leotard pattern for the under bits! Protip: Pattern too small? Trace it off of your TV while no one else is home. :D
That is ENTIRELY too many SEAMS for a SLEEVE, MERCY
The bare beginnings of a Mercy cosplay Iām working on. Wish me luck!

My sister and I just got addicted to Overwatch! She really likes playing as Reinhardt.
May the Gods have mercy on her enemies, because she definitely does not.
Gang signs at the local Pokestop park! The feud is restless in this neighborhood.
