i am absolutely obsessed with all of your PHM stuff, but particularly Erid and Earth. i’m imagining Eridian seismologists receiving readings that almost resemble greetings and good tidings called out to a very dear friend but are pitched so low and also are coming from the planet? It must be a coincidence.

and human astronomers noticing that the auroras are dancing and almost forming shapes in the sky that almost look like ancient cave paintings if you squint and tilt your head.

and Earth’s seas sing and Erid clouds start swirling to make shapes and neither civilization can read it properly from their vantage point on the ground and communication wirelessly is impossible, besides are they really going to ask their new friends if their planet is haunted too?

Sound of Silence, the pentatonix version specifically. I listened to it and i imagined the Salvestra crew singing it. They survived the ice age, they grew up when half the population was starving to death, they were there when news came about neighbors, they volunteered when Earth feared that their new friends were already gone.

the Sound of Silence, the silence of the stars we’ve watched for so so long finally being broken. By a species that /sings/ no less.

what if they get back to erid only for grace to discover that rocky has like. a crazy rap sheet. extensive eridian criminal record. he's stolen everything it's possible to steal. there was a huge brouhaha when he got elected to the petrova line mission because it's basically like if danny ocean had been really really good at fixing shit and so they decided to send him to the moon. he's been arrested approximately 12,000 times for public indecency. grace is like (still not over the clothes thing) so i'm NOT the only guy you like to be fully naked around. i see how it is. and rocky has to reform his image and only do his nudist thing around grace to save his bug marriage. the fact that he came back from space married to a bug is somehow entirely unsurprising to the entire planet, who mostly assumed he'd stolen the blip-A and made off with it and that was why no one came back for 50 years. grand theft spaceship. grace visiting rocky's cave like wow cool jewel artwork or whatever and rocky's like yes yes. if anyone asks you've never seen it.

something that has been implied about this AU but not yet explicitly stated: eva is NOT supposed to be on the hail mary. it wasn't planned for. that means she has no zero-g training at all. grace has the slightest advantage in that technically he did train for it, but not remembering makes it very scary. luckily for him eva is better at handling upsetting situations when she has something (or someone) else to worry over instead of herself

Random Au idea; Miraculously, the Blip-A crew survive, but at the cost of their travel time, making it so they arrive at Tau Ceti around the same time as the Hail Mary. (Don't think too hard about it)

Grace now gets regularly hassled by many Eridians, all of whom can hold multiple conversations at once, unlike him.

Naturally, opinions about the local wet organful thang Tau Ceti dragged in are varied
