what I've learnt as a student pt.1
- have some sort of planner. whether it's a stack of sticky notes, a diary planner, or a Google calendar, Write that Shit Down!
- be your own annoying, nagging teacher/parent that forces you study and do your homework. keep yourself in check - but if you can't do that, tell someone else to be that person for you! you're going to get to a point where you're so used to the grind that you dont let yourself slack off when you want to.
- surround yourself with like-minded people. I may not be the smartest person in the room, but that's because I choose not to be. you will always find me studying with those "smart" kids who have insane work ethic because over time, you realised you've develop similar habits and thinking processes.
- don't be afraid to let loose every once in a while. if you're taking my advice therefore working as hard as I am, then you deserve a much needed break every now and then.
- develop a routine. for me, what worked was staying at my school library until it closed - every single day if I could. it ensured I could keep up with my workload and not fall behind on anything.
- drink your fucking water.
- use your teachers! I cannot stress this enough. I have seen friends break down into a million pieces rather than ask the teacher for help. they are there to be used!
- know what you fucking want out of this. sometimes you question the reason why you study hours everyday and sacrifice your mental health for grades. remind yourself why you're doing this, every minute of the day.

How I got straight A's as a high school student
Hey guys, over here in NZ we're approaching the new school year (Feb 1) so I thought I would post how I maintained straight A's (or Excellences lol) as a year 11 (16 y/o). I've been on student Tumblr for a long time, but I don't see many advice posts for high school students like me. Thus this post, hope you find it helpful!
1. Pick subjects you like
If I compare my grades in year 10 and year 11, you will see a drastic difference. Why? Because I took subjects I liked in year 11, and hated in year 10. I found myself more likely and inclined to work on an assignment for a class I liked, rather than detested. This is such an underrated skill most of us tend to overlook but I understand some students don't have the luxury of picking subjects and like. So here's number 2:
2. Treat High School like a full time job
One reason I think I did so well this year was because I put High School first. I don't mean it was more important than food and sleeping etc. But school came first before socialising with friends, or social media/netflix. I still had time for them but I put my homework, assignments, tasks first so I could have time for my hobbies later. It lifts a huge weight off your shoulder if you get things done first, not later. Which brings me to my third point which is:
3. Surround yourself with the smart people!!
If you're not one of those smart people yourself, then friend them. Sit beside them, make conversation, ask them about the homework. You will subconsciously begin to care about school just like they do, develop their kind of thinking and attitude. To them, high school is not difficult. It shouldn't be if you're studying right and showing up.
4. Join other activities/clubs
I do not suggest being one of those people who study 24/7, because it just isn't healthy. I found trying to be a studying machine doesn't work for anyone, and involving myself in clubs actually helped rather than take up my time. I found I could take my mind off studying which translated into a healthier break than scrolling on social media. And it could be anything! I am in debating, world scholars, and philosophy club :) (if you wanted to know lmao)
5. AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST .... Have fun!
We've all heard it before, but really, high school is a fun experience you will look back on. Because you were young, dumb, a little foolish. High school doesn't have to be a depressing or boring experience. Surround yourself with your friends, don't give a shit about what others think, and for gods sake do what you like!!
Hope this very messy post helped! Good luck to your new academic year :))

I love the study atmosphere. But I do not know what I should do from choosing the table, pens, shelves, the appropriate colors for them, in addition to the quality of the papers. Any tips?
Hi there <3 Sorry I'm getting to you so late, I've been swamped with finals!
Regarding the table, I suggest finding a decent size with ample desk area. I made the mistake of rushing to get a desk, and foolishly bought a small, basically useless one-person desk. DONT MAKE THIS MISTAKE! It's up to you what kind of material/colour desk you prefer, but I recommend compiling a moodboard of sorts. You could go on Pinterest and search up key words such as "minimalistic study area" or "bright/colourful". Basically get inspiration from others, and from there you will eventually develop your style :)
The more specific stationary, like pens and notebooks, I would suggest going on sites like AliExpress for these. I dont live in a big country (pretty isolated) so the stationary you get here is your basic, yellow pencil types. What worked for me was watching a ton of "aesthetic" study YouTubers. I found what the current popular items were, or anything that fit my vague aesthetic, and bought it on AliExpress. Note: there are other online stationary websites, and definitely in person stores if you live in America etc. but Aliexpress worked for me the most (bcs it's really cheap lol).
I hope this helped!
sometimes my only source of motivation comes from my desk area
exam stress kicking in
It makes me sad when I see people getting down on themselves for not being good at magic.
Magic is like math. Some people are blessed with a good brain for math, but anyone can get good at it. You don't need a special birthright or a special teacher, there are no expensive books you have to buy. The most important quality of a modern practicioner is curiosity.
11.10.21 ~ cosy days with iced lattes ☁️
I've actually been quite productive these holidays thanks to my amazing tutor! I'm grateful for them standing up with my slowness in maths... I hope everyone is having a good week! School coming up can be a little stressful, so let's remember to get enough sleep and practice good thoughts ☘️

I admit, my start to the day wasnt productive at all... But I kept a positive mindset which led me spending time to study at my local cafe. Glad to say it helped! On a side note, my desk area is slowly coming together (after years of use lol) so I feel more confident posting it here :)
currently watching 🙈 Bleach (oml its amazing!!)
I never make text posts w/o pics, but I just wanted to say tysm for giving so much love to my recent post! 💞 (so many notes!!) It really helps people who post content here, and actually encourages me to study more 😆 On that note, I hope everyone has a productive study day...I'm off to the library to crank out some schoolwork 👋🏼✨
