Finding the shortest and most efficient path to create transportation links between the islands of Maldives. 

The nodes represents the islands and the lines represents the path.

Slime mould; an eukaryotic organisms that can live freely as single cells, but can aggregate together to form multicellular reproductive structures. Once food sources are found, the slime mould forms a tubular network with conducting tubes to transport nutrients over the whole organism. The slime mould constructs the tubes connecting food sources by the shortest paths.

We as a society face a lot of “disasters” due to unequal resource distribution. Centralization and the lack of proper transportation systems between the islands  has created a manmade disaster in Maldives. Male’ City, the capital of Maldives resides more than half of the population of the country.
